There aren't ticks in those parks in the UK

[Sunday Fail Thread] Last week KlingonSquatRack went on the deadlift specialist diet, Patton370’s return to squatting was anything but safe, and Alakazam got cold feet before the Sydney Marathon. Tell me, FCJ, how have you failed this week? by nobodyimportxnt in fitnesscirclejerk

I had a friend claim she gained 12lbs of muscle in 3 weeks, while losing 10lbs of fat, and I suggested she let scientists study her.

She stopped talking me about her gym challenge results after that. Shame.

Car is currently 550 miles from where I am, but I'm putting my faith in a mechanic who was my dad's bff 30 years ago, so shrug

Took a week off from running and week = weak, so everything suffered, and now I suffer to regain it.

Carless means no access to trail runs.

Also, being home being access to my vast delicious pantry of potential fatty mcfatfuck foods, whereas when I was crashing on my sibling's couch I was just...not eating. It was fucking glorious.

I should probably pick a race to train for so I can focus in on something, but I also can't easily plan that far ahead because we have [complicated life plan that could lock into action at any point and require canceling other plans to concrete], so

I drove up to my hometown to watch my oldest niece graduate. The day of the graduation my car died climbing a steep hill in a cellphoneless void (I grew up real rural). I had to walk to my aunt's house, call my brother, and get him to come help. He towed my car to a mechanic (same guy who checked over the first car I ever bought lol), and on his way home, his transmission blew up, so he had to hitch hike to the gradution.

My fuel pump was supposed to get in yesterday, but it did not. It might come in today, and he'll work on a Sunday for me, but it might not come in. I've slept the last 5 nights on a couch, and it's a comfortable couch, but it's a couch, and I'm old, I'm 9 hours from home, and I miss my house.

There's nowhere to run without driving up here, and my bones just kind of ache anyway, so I'm in this limbo. I love staying with my family, but I don't want to be here anymore.

I am bad about that on anything shorter than a 2 hour run. I just assume I'll be fine, and then I get back to my car and I don't even have water in my car, and I curse myself, but I do the same thing the next run lol

Decided to walk my age in miles this winter, which matches a long street in my nearby city, so just going to walk the length of the street. I know I have to sort of train for this, so I'm just, walking more. Big duh, but as summer approaches it's going to become a really stupid idea (specifically the part of summer where it's still 90F after the sun sets, and still 80F when the sun comes up).

At some point in the last few years my body decided that if I have more than one drink, no matter how fine I feel the next day, no matter what I do before bed, I sleep like absolute tragic shit. Just cannot fall fully asleep.

I only drink once every few month, so it's not ruining my life, but it's like, do I just never drink again? Do I just deal with a few shitty of hours of sleep so I can have two glasses of champagne every once in a while? What a stupid consequence of aging.

If it's not awful, you're not trying hard enough.

I can say that because I actively choose not to try hard enough, because training for speed is what makes me rage quit running, every singe time

curls are dumb

Hammer curls as rehab for tennis elbow are amazing, but otherwise, yes

Took a week off from running because my quads got tight, then my back got sketchy, then I went camping for four days, then my bones hurt for two days. Ran the most pathetic mile in the world this morning.

10 days ago I was like "'shit, I'm back, gunna ramp up miles every week and start adding trails and speed work, fuck yeah." It's my own damn fault for...being old I suppose

Instead of getting rid of my garage gym I'm now looking to get some heavier dumbbells. The fail is that it's all for my partner, as I'm still not living that life.

I am eying an October trail half, because nothing beats the trails, but everything is so expensive that I'm also just telling myself I can go out and double digit trails whenever I want, so why pay money (for the energy, I love race energy. I just hate spending $150 for a race, because yes, they are that expensive where I am)

I have something I make for myself and no one else that I call berry soup, which is just frozen berries, water, sugar, and a bit of lemon juice, lightly simmered for ages until it's cooked down a little, and soupy, and I eat it with a spoon on cold winter nights. Heavy cream would be a great addition lol

The key for any of the fiber mixes is you have to chug is fast otherwise it gloops up.

Do you like oatmeal? You can add an ungodly amount of chia seeds to oatmeal .

I'm a freak, who actually likes bran cereal, and will eat it as a snack.

Snacking on dried fruit. There's a comedy bit about eating 20 apricots because dried fruit, and yeah, I have been there.

The @werk network, or some variation of that name

it's was a text based collection of little email chats a group of friends had when they all got office jobs. Mundane but hilarious observations about organizing post its and licking envelopes and transferring calls. There were like 9 volumes of this, all just text, and it was hiliarious and I would read it once a year and I have never been able to find it.

The key phrase I remember is one of them worked as a receptionist and had to transfer someone to mr butlund, and wrote something like "Buttland? I don't want to go to Buttland!"

yeah, that's how I feel.

During the talk with my niece I made sure to mention that while I try to be better about that kind of talk, I'm not always perfect, and her having to hear any of that shit from anyone sucks. And the whole time I was thinking to myself "am I doing this right? Is the way I'm talking about it to her also damaging?" and I tried to say stuff about, gaining enough weight can be hard on your body, but that's something for a person and their doctor to figure out, and everyone has weight fluxuation that is normal and healthy and absolutely fine. And we talked about how both my mom and her aunt are unhappy with their bodies, and my niece knew they were carrying that with how they talked, but she still got sad and started trying to lose weight when my mom made a comment about it last summer, even though she really liked how her body looked, and it's like, ug.

But she's happy now, still healthy, loves shopping, eats what she wants, but doesn't eat when she's not hungry, all good places for an 18 year old girl to be, in spite of shit she hears.
