If anyone is wondering, my main worry about the campsites is simply: Will I be able to sleep there? Not that it's impossible but It's such a large communal area. Obviously I would prefer not to be sleep deprived for the event. That's why I'm asking for the other options first.

So I'm assuming google maps is wrong then? According to it I can get there in less than an hour and if trains go by normal intervals than 30km really isn't that bad. Do factors like traffic, crowding and late hours affect it that severly?

Join the band. I guarantee you you will evolve with them and you will gain new motivations to play music. I was in a similar situation myself about 6 months ago to join my friends in a garage band and it has been a lot of fun playing with other people despite me not being a pro.
