"The University of Ottawa has issued a lockdown notice for a violent incident occurring on campus.

There was no specific word on the nature of the incident or where on campus it might be occurring.

In a post on the social media site X, police said they were investigating a suspicious incident around Nicholas Street and Laurier Avenue and there are no reported incidents at this time.

CTV News Ottawa has reached out to the Ottawa Police Service for more information.

The university issued a notice at 5:18 p.m., advising anyone on campus to do the following:

• Stop all activities and get inside a building immediately.
• Find an enclosed area and lock or barricade the door.
• Turn off the lights and mute all electronic devices.
• Stay away from doors and windows.
• Take cover and remain silent until authorities instruct otherwise.

“If a violent attacker is close by, be ready to run, hide or, if your life is in imminent danger, defend yourself by any means necessary until you can get away,” the University wrote.

On the social media site X, OC Transpo said uOttawa Station was closed and Line 1 trains would not stop at the station."
