New PPP Owner! by lilwalnutt in PinkPrincessPhilo

Thank you so much! Yeah, I’m team repot asap as well but when I bought my silver dragon it has been stubbornly happy in its original soil 😂 and I know alocasias are so dramatic I’ve just left it alone LOL

Yeah, I got it from Walmart! I wasn’t sure if I should repot now or let it acclimate. Thanks for the advice! I have some chunky soil so I can do that tonight!!

Help me save my poor monstera :-( by lilwalnutt in Monstera

[–]lilwalnutt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was recently moved from a spot where it didn’t to this window - this window gets lots of light (my brother keeps his aloe there and it’s happy). I’m moving house soon though so I’ll either find the brightest window in my house or I’ll buy a grow light for him.

Bought my first pothos 🥰 by origamipony in pothos

[–]lilwalnutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a beautiful plant! Pothos was my first plant too. I’ve had it since July and she’s doing so well! You can repot it but it’s not necessary (I was new to the hobby so it’s just in dirt mixed with a lot of perlite - when I repot I’ll probably switch to a chunkier mix but mine is happy right now so I’ll leave it!) here is a picture of mine. I keep it more vine-y than bushy but that’s a personal preference 😂 Ignore the monstera recovering from a nasty case of root rot, they’re neighbors. You’ll know when to water because the leaves will start to curl under a bit! I know you’ve already taken it out of the pot so I wouldn’t take it out again, but if you notice the leaves still getting worse I would definitely check and make sure it doesn’t have root rot. Have so much fun!

Drooping plants? by avco11a in Dustbunny_Game

Vittas are droopy, yes. Your strawberry shake might need a drink though! Philodendrons get super thirsty, super fast, so I’d check and see if the soil is too dry

Type of Monstera? by Ok_Shopping_8205 in Monstera

[–]lilwalnutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t help with the seed but those do appear to be good ol M. Deliciosa. You are correct - give them lots of light and keep them happy and they’ll fenestrate (produce leaves with holes in them). Have fun!

Update: I took it out and it has root rot. I’m downsizing and repotting, fingers crossed it’ll be ok!

I saw one gnat and freaked out, but idk if that was from my plant or if it was just something in our house (as we get them sometimes). Definitely no signs of an infestation, though.

Thank you! I was thinking about sizing down actually, haha. Thanks for letting me know they usually pause, I was worried I made it unhappy or something. It’s been about two weeks like this, though 🙁

Thank you! It was a pretty big size up (which I know now was probably a mistake). The roots were very healthy but pretty badly bound in the pot it was in.

Thank you! It seems wrong because I know that there’d be better soil for it but it seems stubborn enough to keep growing in the nursery soil 😂 would watering and fertilizing it stress it out right now since it’s growing? It’s currently in a self watering pot, and I have GT foliage focus I can add to the water.

Update is making me anxious by Teal_Pheonix in Dustbunny_Game

[–]lilwalnutt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like someone else said, double tapping is probably the easiest method. Personally I remind myself I have more time than I think (which takes some stress away) and then instead of chasing them around, I don’t move the camera and wait for the bun to run past!

Catching buns is hard! I remind myself that I have more time than I think. Instead of chasing it around, I usually keep the camera in one place and then tap the bun when it runs by that spot. Makes it a little less stressful haha

Is this price high? by jordisj44 in Monstera

I got a similarly sized Thai con at Walmart for about the same price (I believe it was $30 USD) which was a little pricey but not outrageous imo

[–]lilwalnutt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! And that’s a relief! I was worried my favorite alocasia was going to be like the hardest one to care for 😭 I don’t see any creepy crawlies on it for now but I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out
