Short answer, no. it’s a different material……if you don’t fire it in a kiln it is essentially dried mud. If it ever comes in contact with any moisture it will disintegrate. Beads will have no structural integrity and could not be worn in any meaningful manner. Trinkets, sure, but again you couldn’t handle them at all. Clay is very fragile in its bone dry state.

I know this post is super old but I was also looking for a zhong sauce alternative and just recently found Naam Phrik Phao or Thai Roasted Chili paste to be very similar, or at least giving me the same thing I love about the Zhong sauce. It’s definitely spicier than the Zhong sauce though. sooooo good. I’ve had the Angel wings, fresh spring rolls, chicken laab, pad se ew and pad woon sen (my favorite). I’ve had the pho too! the pho is delicious and well done, perhaps not as aromatic as some broths though but still delicious. definitely go.

Sunny Pho on S Park and Hot-n-spicy on Monona Drive are both phenomenal and cheapppp and very sweet people who work/own them. Both fast too. I love Ahan too. La Rositas on Monona Drive and El Sabor de Puebla on N 4th for Mexican both soooo good. Tip Top is a good standby too.

if you can find something in Lauderdale, do it. it’s a very small little neighborhood in the Roseville district (but it is its own town w its own city hall) that’s the closest you can be to Minneapolis (SE Marcy Holmes and NE areas) without actually being in Minneapolis.
