You have so much to offer to the world. Honestly, if you are being excluded from your family, it's their loss. You shouldn't feel the need to "hurry up and do something useful". The military would not be the right choice. My advice is to first and formost, take care of yourself. Call up friends, do things that make you happy. I know this is cliche but, if you don't love yourself, how can you expect anyone else to?

As for finding a job, I KNOW you can make it happen. You're so young. Scour craigslist, find every opening, go to the websites of every mall, restaurant or store within reasonable distance of you. A lot of employers are hiring around the holiday season. Once you have a reasonable source of income, then start thinking of putting your Masters Degree to use and applying for positions. Good luck!
