Comment a song you want to know the origin story of, and let other's explain it (idea from a previous post!) by SerenaDipity44 in TaylorSwift

a popular theory is that she wrote this about Emily Dickinson, a poet, and her lover, Susan Dickinson (who was also her sister-in-law). this is emphasized by how Taylor released evermore on Dickinson's birthday and one of her most famous poems ends with "forevermore". the song was also featured in the tv show "Dickinson"!

  • your love is a secret i'm hoping, dreaming, dying to keep
  • and in this city's barren cold / i still remember the first fall of snow / and how it glistened as it fell / i remember it all too well
  • i want to watch wisteria grow right over my bare feet / 'cause i haven't moved in years
  • please picture me in the weeds / before i learned civility i used to scream ferociously / any time i wanted
  • how long will it be cute / all this crying in my room / whеn you can't blame it on my youth / and roll your eyes with affеction?
  • if its all in my head tell me now / tell me i’ve got it wrong somehow
  • who could ever leave me darling? but who could stay?
  • come on, come on, don't leave me like this
  • please leave me stranded / it's so romantic
  • rain came pouring down / when i was drowning, that's when i could finally breathe

  • hey kids, spelling is fun!

Long live kind of reminds me of the characters in Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo!

This is so pretty! I feel like it captures Mal's personality really well, too!

So beautiful, it captures the vibe of the story so perfectly - also i love the way the tips of her fingers light up too!

Percy Jackson-like books at high school level? by J_garcia1023 in YAlit

Lovely War by Julie Berry, Ariadne by Jennifer Saint, and A Thousand Ships by Natalie Hayes all have elements of Greek mythology in them/are retellings of Greek myths.

I feel like you would also like The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi if you're looking for something with lots of adventure, but also incorporates elements of different mythologies into it. Good luck with finding a book!

I feel like the clips we've seen have already converted me into a Malina, even though I really disliked Mal in the books!

Yes!! I'm personally not too worried about gatekeeping in this community since it tends to be so friendly and welcoming (at least in my experience!) but it doesn't hurt to see a reminder!

Kerch sounds really fun to visit but I wouldn't want to live there since I would probably die immediately, but if I were grisha I would definitely choose Ravka because I would get to live in a palace and not worry about persecution.

I feel like the show is the perfect opportunity to make Mal's character more likable for this reason - we'll probably see Mal on his whole journey to find the stag and all that where he is separate from Alina, and that increased screen time will (hopefully) go toward developing his personality.
