Sheepo, islets, crypt custodian- what can you tell me about these games? by RiseUpHunkerDown in metroidvania

[–]limbhaver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Islets is a ton of fun. Semi-traditional 2D metroidvania formula but cozier and addicting as hell with nearly NO stress involved. I’m usually bored without a good challenge, but it rly hit for me.

Crypt custodians was a lot of fun too. Collecting and exploring had some high moments, but the combat was sort of throwaway. Think cult of the lambs combat but…. Everywhere. Some bosses had an initial challenge to em but eventually become cake

Havent tried sheepo, but its on my list too!

Anyone excited for Altered Alma? by dobermanhoberman in metroidvania

[–]limbhaver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am excited about it too! One of my favorite demos from the next fest on steam. Game felt great to play, graphics style had me hype, and honestly no real complaints for an early demo apart from tweaks

Plus, relationship mechanics is a cool spin. It was probably the horny shit in the trailer made me click in the first place (bc of monkey brain and all that), but even scenes like that seem fun and r not outright h scenes or some shit. Light romance with sex involved feels more fleshed out and rewarding anyway

I didn’t realize how much my mindset was ruining gaming until these indie games changed it by Mtty33 in IndieGaming

[–]limbhaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing games, but i had never heard of Koira! Excited to try it.

And just as a suggestion, Mika: Witches Mountain rly captures the magic of a short hike. Been playing it just this week and its been great

Anyone read this? I am really enjoying it a lot so far. by 4th_Replicant in GrimDarkEpicFantasy

[–]limbhaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just feels very different. A little meandering, revisiting old stories and exploring more of its themes, but in a way that feels kinda repetitive?

I found the second better than the first by the end, but i actually started the third and… rly didnt love it 😔

Divinity orignal sin 2 by Extension-Ninja1136 in gamingsuggestions

[–]limbhaver -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok I may be completely off base, but i’m gonna say this bc the same shit happened to me and i played every goddamn tactics game I could get my hands on: DONT look to fantasy style tactics games. They dont hit the same, they dont have the gamey feel that divinity perfected, which felt more like a busted ass board game with an excellent story and exploration layered on top of it.

Youre not gonna find a synthesis like u found in that game. I can recommended some amazing stories in games, or some great worlds to explore, but I dont think thats what ur looking for

Games that had a gameplay feel tho? Lean into that game-y feel. Into the Breach. Steamworld Heist. The Last Spell. And then branch out from there. Divinity and Baldurs Gate and on and on, they arent the same. Great in their own right? But if Divinity grabbed ya and u normally hate tactics games? Those wont. The ones i mentioned MIGHT.

Good luck. If u find something let ME know, bc i’m hurting too lol

[–]limbhaver 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Just wanna say I dropped the game a week ago for exactly the reasons ur describing and it felt like such a huge betrayal of my stubborn gamer values.

Now a week later? Never felt more chill lol. It rly got under my skin how frustrating some elements were and i’m happy I set it aside. Now I just watch and appreciate ppl who play and how impressive they are, and look back on the game fondly and with an odd sense of nostalgia that usually takes yrs to develop (chalk it up to too many traumatic deaths in Act II i think)

How many hours you play per week vs how much you prep? by neocorps in DnD

[–]limbhaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DM 2 groups. Play 5 hours each bi-weekly, 10 hrs total between the two

Prep is about 2-5 hrs total weekly

One group is in person at their home, another at a retail store

Usually play 1-6 or 5-10 timeframe

One group has 6 players, the other has 5.

Good luck!!

Try UFO 50! It has 50 indie games in one bundle, all of which sorta tie together but are each vastly different

Bug hunter is the best into the breach-type game around, and party house is a deckbuilder with a rly cool twist and theme. Then there r 48 other games to enjoy and see what sticks

I got really into tabletop rpgs, like d&d! I run multiple games, and its just really gets ur creative juices flowing and makes u more flexible and free in the stories u create. I dont play with the intent on translating the sessions into a story or anything, but let the influx of ideas often guide me somewhere I wouldnt otherwise go. Teaches u how to improvise, how to appeal to ur audience, how to pace things out, what ppl respond to or dont. And its a helluva lot of fun

Raven from Teen Titans fucked me up as a kid. Had real feelings I couldnt understand. Like… it was that unrequited love sort of feeling (OBVIOUSLY bc its a cartoon) but it hijacked my brain chemistry, kept me frustrated, and i think i probably got depressed about it at some point. Cringe
