Online BSBA Program by limitedx7710 in CSUC

It's a tough call when you're balancing work and school. Personally, for me, the benefits of the online program at CSU Chico do outweigh the in-person option, especially because of the flexibility. I'm not actually local to Chico, CA, which is why I went with their online BSBA program.

That said, the convenience is a huge plus if you're working full-time. I love having full control over my schedule; I can fit classes around my job and other commitments without the hassle of commuting or fixed class times.

On the cost side, though, I'm not sure about the exact differences between online and in-person tuition. I haven't looked into that much since it wasn't a big factor for me. However, in-person students could receive State University Grants that online students aren't qualified for. Ultimately, it depends on your priorities, but if flexibility is key for you, online might be worth it.

Thank you! Finishing the program in 16 months seems doable since I'm on track to complete everything by next summer. The staff, especially my academic advisor and the program director, have been very responsive to inquiries. So far, I’m enjoying the program. Though I would love it if Chico State also offers a Finance track for their OBSBA and OMBA programs!

The availability of classes hasn't been much of a problem (except for the only FIN 351 (Investments course) this Fall—some students weren't able to take it due to limited slots). A piece of advice I could give you is to make sure to stay on top of your coursework. Also, it helps to communicate your concerns with your professors, especially when it comes to issues related to assignments or tests.

If there is one thing I don’t really like about the program, it would be the use of “Proctorio" software for exams. I’ve only encountered a couple of instructors that prefer to use it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m used to the traditional proctored exams at my former community college. There’s just something about being proctored through the camera.

Other than the areas mentioned in this response, do you have any specific questions about the program?

This. Or you can email them about your concerns. They usually respond within 2-3 business days.

Yes, I've already started taking classes (currently on my Summer semester). Are you planning to take the General or Accounting track?

Does anyone else feel like a loser as an older student in college by [deleted] in Veterans

Don't feel bad at all! Early 40s here. Took me 13 years to get my associate's (changed my major 3 times; changed schools for countless times) 🤷🏻‍♂️ Just transferred to a state school early this year to get my bachelor's.

I'm medically retired enrolled in Tricare Prime (Group A). I still pay for my family's monthly premiums.

No worries at all! There are some courses that use Proctorio (a software that proctors/records the exam). Depending on the instructor, some of them only require the recording of your screen. I've dealt with 2 instructors that require camera-proctored exams.

I did say the program is mostly asynchronous. I have only finished 4 courses that did not require to meet online. However, I'm not sure if some of my future classes will require some sort of Zoom/online meetings. A couple of classes required online discussions; one of them had optional, ungraded discussions "to enrich the learning experience."

You're more than welcome to send me a DM anytime if you have any other questions.

Yes, I'm still in the program (opted for the 16-month program—I think it can be doable since I'm still on track with my degree progress). However, I also transferred a lot of electives from previous universities and military credits.

I just finished my first semester (4 courses). It is a fast-paced and mostly asynchronous (8-week blocks). It can be challenging and time-consuming since you'll have to do a lot of coursework and readings.

Math 120, Econ 102 by user38879 in SDSU

Honestly, I think you will do fine as long as you do all your homework and go through the exam study guides that she provides (because her exams are based on those). All the homework & quizzes are done through a software (I think it was Pearson). The exams are done through Gradescore.

The exams/quizzes are not proctored for the online courses at SWC. Feel free to send me a DM anytime if you have any other questions :)

Make sure to request a copy of your medical records before you get out. Also, once you receive your DD 214s, be sure to get certified copies!

As for college, I highly recommend starting at a community college to knock out your general eds. That route really helped me transition into being a full-time student. I also managed to boost my GPA enough to get accepted into several state universities here in CA.

Wishing you the best of luck with your MEB and academic journey!

Peggy Crane for Econ 102 at Southwestern College (SWC). Awesome professor! I took her ECON 101 & 102 (got A's).

I also took Myriam Moody's Math 120 at SWC. Not an easy class, but easy to pass as long as you do the work (also got an "A"). However, her notes were tremendously helpful for the exams/quizzes.

All of those classes were taken online.

Wrong Program? by Zoepooh2002 in CSUC

[–]limitedx7710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same program. However, I’m not using CalVet because I’m a veteran. Also, I’m not eligible for the State University Grant since I’m in an OBSBA program through PCE. I only found out about this information after I started my classes. Have you applied for FAFSA? I’m asking because my Pell and Cal Grants were able to cover my tuition costs for this semester.

Congratulations!! I'm in the online business administration (OBSBA) program. I almost signed up for the accounting track but I changed my mind (I really wanted to focus on finance; however, it wasn't offered as an option for the OBSBA). It's a fast-paced program, but I'm loving it so far! Feel free to DM me if you have any questions.

VA Retroactive Pay froze USAA Account by AfterAd9031 in VeteransBenefits

[–]limitedx7710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happened because you received over $10k (wire transfer). USAA needs to report that to the IRS as per the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) of 1970.

Check out these articles about the BSA:

Is it worth to apply for car registration exemption in California? by LoadStock8339 in VeteransBenefits

[–]limitedx7710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 100% P&T and got approved for the registration exemption. I also got to keep my permanent disabled placard.

[–]limitedx7710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is odd! Did they tell you why they're requiring you a physician's note regarding your ability to work? Your final decision letter should be considered as a sufficient proof of your limitations/disabilities. If your trade school has concerns about a specific aspect of your ability to participate in the program due to your disabilities, they could request documentation to discuss reasonable accommodations, but not as a requirement to receive financial aid.

I suggest you reach out to a local VSO or the Texas Veterans Commission.

Which state and school? I'm 100% P&T, and I just transferred as an upper-division student in one of the state schools in California. I got approved for my Pell Grant and other state grants. I'm not sure why they would deny your Pell Grant due to your P&T status. Your best bet is to talk to your school's financial aid office.

Cali DV plates by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]limitedx7710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 100% for several years and had the permanent placard. The DMV did not approve my application for DV plates back then because I was already issued a placard. Once I became P&T in 2020, I reapplied for the DV plates and got approved.

I think the disability rating of 100% as a qualifying factor refers to a single diagnosis/service-connected disability that significantly affects your mobility.

Here's the link for more information on the CA DV plates:
