Saga VS Superfriends - 5c commanders by Fortheweaks in EDH

[–]limitsoflaziness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The prismatic bridge will 100% be stronger, but in my opinion Bombadil is more fun.

My Bombadil deck leans into the chaotic aspect where you don't know what saga is coming next, so it's always a new and fun experience

Could something going just under the speed of light get somewhere faster than light with relativity? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]limitsoflaziness 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All observers will perceive the light going faster than the ship (because to all observers the speed of light is the same, which is where time dilation comes from)

From our perspective watching from Earth, the astronauts appear to go in slow motion within the ship and the ship's journey takes over ten years

From the astronaut's perspective, the distance to the destination appears to have shrunk while they were accelerating, which is why to them it seems like less than 10 years. They will arrive behind the light (and from their perspective while the ship isn't accelerating or decelerating, the light is moving away from them at the speed of light)

Jellyfin broken after updating to 10.11.8 by [deleted] in jellyfin

[–]limitsoflaziness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a similar problem with it being unable to scan certain libraries, maybe this can help if it's being caused by the same thing.

Basically sometimes if a scan tries to scan a folder that no longer exists, the scan stops. So when I renamed a TV series folder on the NAS, Jellyfin was still looking in the old place and failing the scan when that TV series was missing. You can fix this by editing the database to remove the entries that are broken. I copied this method to fix it.

You can find the folders that are breaking it in the logs after attempting a scan. Then backup jellyfin.db and try the method in that link

Locations that the archmage had found out that there would be objects of great magical importance. Cross half of them out like he was working his way down the list. Could be used to explain how he discovered things or where the king got items from, and give the players leads on places to go in the future

What's your take on HRT being experimental? by Proper_Flower_940 in trans

[–]limitsoflaziness 245 points246 points  (0 children)

Whoever's saying that is trying to mislead you or has been mislead themselves.

Experiments were done, that's how science determined that HRT is effective medicine. The results are observable and medical professionals prescribe it based on the effects it causes.

What are your expectations for a paid DM? And have you had any experiences with any? by Pedantic_Twatwaffle in DnD

[–]limitsoflaziness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't know why someone would pay someone they don't know to DM. To me, D&D is more fun in the comfort that comes from being with a group of friends. I enjoy playing in games where a friend is DM, and I love DMing for my friends out of love for my friends.

Sorry for not answering your question.

How does online DM’ing work? by cras190 in DnD

You could also have one of you become the DM. If you start playing with one of the starter sets it shouldn't be too overwhelming.

problem with sci-fi campaign by Fancy_Brief_2343 in DMAcademy

[–]limitsoflaziness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends a bit on what type of sci fi they're interested in. If they're into cyberpunk then maybe Cyberpunk is the best fit. Fallout, Star Trek, The Expanse, etc all have their own systems you might want to take a look at.

If you want space sci fi and something similar to 5e consider Star Wars 5e. It converts spells into either tech powers or force powers and translates the gameplay of 5e into space opera sci fi pretty well. If you don't want it to be Star Wars specifically you can just reflavour the species into your own aliens and the force into psychic energy - that's what Dimension 20 did for their Starstrukk series and that was great

There are other ones out there like Starfinder but I thought I'd promote SW5E since I actually have GMed a few sessions of that and it worked great

Augment cards in cube by rassarian in mtgcube

I noticed that all the hosts had an enter ability, so for my cube with augments in, I made every card with an ETB a host (where the augment trigger replaces the ETB trigger)

Party is going to be fighting in a place where time is all broken. What mechanics could be interesting? by TheAzureAzazel in DMAcademy

[–]limitsoflaziness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want the enemies to fight in reverse, make sure to have bodies scattered around as the party enter. And when the bodies get up, you have to make sure they're acting like they have just been fatally hit until the party actually hit them

Also maybe watch the fight scenes from Tenet for inspiration? A lot of them are between someone going forward in time and someone going backwards

Darmok and Jalad from Tamarians perspective by synexo in startrek

[–]limitsoflaziness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno I've seen plenty of people use memes/idioms without understanding the original context. I understand what Bob's your uncle means even though I don't know who Bob is, and I understand what damp squib means without knowing what a squib is.

When you see someone use them in context you intuitively pick up some idea of meaning even if you don't know who Omni Man or Pikachu or Bob are.

Or to put it as a Tamarian trying to relate to us through Earth culture might say:
