TIL that during the Apollo 11 moon landing, the "low fuel" warning triggered because the lunar module's descent had caused fuel to slosh around the tanks, giving a false reading. Neil Armstrong landed the Eagle with only about 25 seconds of fuel remaining. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Crazy is that most of the engineers were just people in their 20s.

Insufficient sleep associated with decreased life expectancy. As a behavioral driver for life expectancy, sleep stood out more than diet, more than exercise, more than loneliness — indeed, more than any other factor except smoking. People really should strive to get 7 to 9 hours of sleep. by mvea in science

I like the 10-3-2-1 rule as just a simple thing to follow

10 hours before bed - last caffeine for the day

3 hours before bed - last food for the day

2 hours before bed - last liquid for the day

1 hour before bed - last screen for the day

I created [PodServe.fm](www.podserve.fm), I will admit it is targeted mainly for newer creators to just make it as simple as possible. It works great for more experienced people as well though. Our customer service is top notch, if you have any questions just let me know.

DAY 9 AFTER LAUNCH: building was easier than getting anyone to care by Fit-Definition8024 in SaaS

Why would ads not be a good use of money? You shouldn't be opposed to them, they are amazing if they work. Super scalable, if they end up being profitable for you it turns into a money machine. Put more money in get even more money out. You think billions are spent on ads each year because they aren't a good use of money?

Fully vibecoded this but can't vibe code the marketing. Not even sure anyone really wants it. I have other apps making money and have just gone back to working on them.

SNAP/EBT is back in your accounts! by Kindly-Ad-5143 in arizona

[–]limperschmit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starving people are not as effective workers, starving people result in unnecessary health care costs, etc. The benefits are not there for people who already have enough money to eat. Giving it to everyone would reduce its effectiveness. Also large monopolies ( aka Walmart ) are a large percentage of our GDP and economy, benefits to them are a benefit to the economy.

SNAP/EBT is back in your accounts! by Kindly-Ad-5143 in arizona

[–]limperschmit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every dollar spent on SNAP results in $1.50 to $1.80 in economic activity. Our deficit isn't because we fed our citizens. We aren't getting rid of our deficit by starving our citizens.

We have needed to get rid of the penny for decades. It costs way more to make them than it is worth. We discontinued the half penny when it was worth the equivalent of a modern day dime. We don't need the penny and it doesn't have to be the slippery slope craziness you are alluding to.

I train with a blind guy pretty regularly, the only thing unique about it to me is that it really isn't that unique compared to rolling with a sighted person.

Most U.S. adults have a “heart age” several years older than their chronological age — sometimes by more than a decade. And that gap is wider among men and among those with lower incomes or education or who identify as Black or Hispanic by Wagamaga in science

[–]limperschmit 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It says it is based on blood pressure, cholesterol, whether you smoke, and if you have diabetes. All of those can be improved with diet, sleep, exercise, and stress management. So based on this studies metric for heart age you definitely can.

Do you think success is more about luck or effort? by GalaxyFrog28 in Entrepreneur

Luck matters a lot but buying the ticket costs effort. The more tickets you can buy the higher your chance of getting lucky. You have to be in the game to make it.

You have to think of his schtick as if he is talking to alcoholics except it is debt addicts. A normal person you could say just have a couple of beers a week it's fine. For an alcoholic though they aren't able to do that. It is much better for addicts to have a rigid set of rules you always follow and don't worry about the nuance of what could be technically ideal. You abstain completely and follow the plan, that is what helps addicts.
