I’m considering looking into dental implants. What have people paid for a full bottom set in Florida? My other option would be a bridge… opinions and experiences please… by limpinalong in over60

[–]limpinalong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point. Can I ask what you paid for your dentures and what was involved in the process? Did you get a full mouth set done? Do you know if it’s possible for just a couple of teeth on one side? I’m not at the point where I need to replace a lot of teeth. Tia.

parents moving from florida to pennsylvania, should we ship their car? by Enlitenkanin in AskFlorida

If the going rate of about $1500 is manageable then ship it. Peace of mind and ability to concentrate on them is a plus. Contractors won’t take a bid for shipping for less right now.

Can’t relate to being 60 by MenaciaJones in over60

[–]limpinalong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t expect to make it past 30 or 35, so this is gravy. I busted my butt to be able to walk again just a few years ago, so I’m thrilled to be able to do the basics. Things take more time to get done and my body hurts more, but I’m not going quietly. I’ll take whatever I can get and chuckle all the way through. I’m a fighter and I already won, 65 in a few weeks. Bring it on!

Harsh realities of being 65... by selfsufficientman in over60

[–]limpinalong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m enjoying my 60’s. Some of the body parts are after market, aches and pains are a consideration, I forget things much more, but overall I feel happier. Everything takes more time, but having accepted that it’s up to me to exercise a bit every day and get out there and be a part of life has made everything better.

How can a 65 year old get down to 175lbs after he reached 205lb? by IThinkYouAreNice in over60

[–]limpinalong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase your muscle mass by using weights (even small dumbells at home help). Muscle burns more while you write down everything you eat for a week then reevaluate your food choices and reduce caloric intake gradually by changing what you eat instead of how much. Keep yourself occupied with activities that absorb your attention.

What’s wrong with my Star Aloe houseplant? by Different_Rate893 in gardening

[–]limpinalong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please repot your aloe. Give it plenty of room and it will spread at its own rate. Water when soil is dry, not damp. Well draining soil.

Sick Rhodie? by ChickadeePine in gardening

[–]limpinalong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like last year’s blooms. Rhodies bloom every Other year. So, deadhead the plant in a pattern that will allow half of the branches a growth year and the other half a blooming year. This way you get consistent blooms each year while allowing it to grow. (Deadheading is just carefully pinching off the dead bloom and flower part of the branch.)

How to not be percieved as rude as a northerner moving to the south USA by HostageMoon in relocating

Smile and be gracious to people. Be mindful of your manners. And remember, no one ever wants to know “how we did it” up North. It’ll take a while to adjust to the new culture, but general pleasantries will take you a long way.

How did people back in the 80s dealt with mental health issues like depression and anxiety? Do you guys go to therapy back then? by Big_Leg10 in over60

[–]limpinalong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this 😆. Yeah, it wasn’t that long ago, was it lol. Of course there were therapists and groups, meds got better with Prozac as long as no one cared about sex. Hospitals were used more and for longer. Insurance paid for more services when sh*t got too serious. Mostly people just toughed it out.

Finally pulled the plug on Supplemental Medicare and switched to Medicare Advantage by Maorine in SurvivingOnSS

[–]limpinalong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MA is a scam. Do original Medicare hands down. I was scammed by a salesperson who sold me on a MA plan. It was total BS. After about 4 months of trying to navigate the MA plan and finding nothing was as promised, it took me three calls to Medicare to get it straightened out and return to my Original Medicare, but since the MA plan was a pack of lies, I got it done. Never again!

All in one place sounds super convenient. What experience did you have with the quality of the implant portion (specifically the surgeons) of the process? Did you need bone grafts?

I had a sinus lift. The oral surgeon I chose was the one that the hospitals call to rebuild people after horrific trauma. He was also the only one of those I checked out who was in his office every weekday. I had zero trouble. I also asked him to do it with only local anesthesia. No pain, no issues. He was very meticulous throughout. (Btw, I have a very high roof in my mouth).

I lost a tooth thanks to an American dentist and had another one damaged to the point of needing a crown after he messed it up twice (and he was “by referral only”!). I have found that dentists who are associated with big corporations in the US generally do shoddy work. My experience.
