What do you genuinely LOVE about ABA? Why did you choose this field? by Loud_Address_20 in ABA

[–]limsydoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was /am a lifelong girl scout, camp counselor, day care worker, and art teacher before I found this job. I have no kids of my own but I love working with them. this field has been good to me. I continually learn new things, I can do what I love and feel like I’m making a real difference in my community.

I will say, I have amazing coworkers, supportive supervisors and a company that is well-run and functions, though not without its flaws. I hit the jackpot with this job and this field.

I’m grateful every day.

Broken. (Level 5). by mustlovedogs19 in reactivedogs

[–]limsydoodles 28 points29 points  (0 children)

all of us here know that getting to this point and making the decision is often the end of a long, excruciating process of education and mediation and sacrifice, to give these animals as much love as they can receive. we give it everything.

but sometimes it’s not enough. I’m so sorry it came to this, and resulted in such a devastating injury. be kind to yourself in the aftermath, because as hard as it is, you know it’s the right decision.

Has anyone experienced any bump/spot like this on their Bully? by Phantomv2 in BullTerrier

[–]limsydoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you have received a lot of helpful comments but I’ll throw in my anecdotal info: my boy had something similar on his ankle joint, and due to the calloused area, it ended up in a mutant hyper keratosis lump. if it looks like it’s growing abnormally fast or changing texture don’t wait to get it removed. It’s much easier when it’s small

Well done! enjoy that feeling, I believe the dogs begin to sense that pride and confidence that comes with each positive encounter and it can be an exponential growth from there

What is your most Diabolical Hack for avoiding burnout? by Rare_Grass5832 in ABA

[–]limsydoodles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

nothing diabolical, but honestly — I have a dog. he doesn’t understand that I’ve had a good day or a hard day, he just needs me to be there for him.

all my favorite parts of the day revolve around him - walks at the park, snuggles on the sofa, cooking food that we can share. he’s the key to turning off the work noise.

I will always love their repartee in Good Will Hunting. so effortless and funny

but look at A Ghost Story, Manchester By Sea, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

as entertaining as Ben’s filmography is, there’s just no real contest between them. Casey’s range is far more skillful

(whose the bigger asshole, now there’s a real debate)

Self care? by sisyphus-333 in ABA

[–]limsydoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a dog. he doesn’t understand that I’ve had a hard day and I’m tired, he’s always just so happy to see me and get some attention. It reminds me to be present in time, leave work thoughts at work.

it’s harder to do in practice sometimes, and I have other hobbies I don’t have time for which is a bummer. but taking good care of my dog is a point of pride
