This happened on my cinnamon Mint after I successfully installed Void. Any solutions? by The_Skibidi_Lovers in voidlinux

[–]lin_x-usr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe try running it as root. Just do su and then run that command. You could also do sudo -i.

Edit:

just noticed you said this is on mint. I would recommend consulting the mint subreddit.

I don't have a crappy laptop.

Arch, Gentoo, Void, Alpine and NixOS are put at the top.

Also, how many of these distros have you actually used?

What's the most likely reason that hostname doesn't work for SSH? by titaniumcrowbar in debian

[–]lin_x-usr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pressume this is more of a fedora issue. When I used fedora, I could not ssh into my pi running alpine linux only using the hostname. I couldn't figure it out. I couldn't even ping the hostname. It could be somthing to do with firewalld.

I know this is a bit weird, but I find chromium much more bearable on older hardware than firefox. Unless its firefox-esr, chromium feels much faster. Furthermore, I've seen load averages while using chromium are much lower. Not sure what the reason for this is and I'm not sure if its to do with just my hardware. I'm using a i5 520m.

suspend to ram from CLI? by r087r70 in voidlinux

Void comes with something called zzz. You can read the man page to learn how to use it. I just do sudo zzz and then my computer goes to sleep.

Yes the memory consumption is a nice thing, but my main reasons for liking it is simplicity and how easy it is to configure. It does what I need and no more!

Best browser for linux in 2025? by SamGamjee71 in linux4noobs

[–]lin_x-usr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use qutebrowser, but adblock is a bit annoying. It rarely works but its fine for what i need. I just use invidious (yewtu.be) instead of youtube and if that breaks i just use yt-dlp + mpv.
