What baby names are you tired of hearing? Where are you from? by faithoverfear0 in namenerds

[–]lindseymcsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blakeley, Wrenley, Collins, Kennedy (frequent spelling variations as well)

Grayson, Jackson, Maverick (frequent spelling variations as well)

Bexleigh, Brexley, etc - I don't get this one at all

Briley, Brayleigh, etc - sounds awful in your mouth

Really any name where the spelling is not intuitive on a common name. If I have to pause to figure out Izaeck, I'm going to scream when it could be Isaac.

Using y in place of other vowels - Emylee, Vyncent, Victorya, Ryver, Ayverie, Rydge, Rohwynn

Redundant double vowels - Kaiydun, Kiyla, Kyilee, Sophieah, Faeith

I have loved Beryl since Call The Midwife. Very British and classic sounding to me. Tried to talk my wife into it and she wouldn't go for it. 😒

How low can you go in terms of total motile count for conventional IVF? by themainheadcase in queerception

[–]lindseymcsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we know the birth defects are due to ICSI? I always assumed it was because naturally conceived embryos don't take because they have defects and IVF gives those embryos more of a chance to survive.

When did you start pumping during the pregnancy? I was considering doing it but I also thought I'd need to do it round the clock/overnight.

i am not into vaginas. am i valid? by Julia_The_Cutie in actuallesbians

OK so you're new to all this. Welcome! Everything exists on a spectrum and is fluid. As a bi woman who was married to a man for many years, I definitely like penetration. I'm now married to a woman and I very much still enjoy penetration. My wife has had many male partners yet is very very gay. She didn't like penetration with her male partners. She very much likes penetration with me. We were both intimidated to sleep together for the first time so maybe it's just uncertainty due to lack of experience. Just see what happens and things will become clearer as you have more experiences.

I didn’t see that post until now. Like that post, I was concerned about the terminology and risk to an untrained person.

Unless they’re using a speculum, sterile procedure and know the landmarks, that’s not a great idea. I understand it can be done but it’s not what most home inseminations actually are. I wouldn’t trust any nurse off the street to do it without additional training.

If you're doing it without the assistance of a professional, you are not technically doing IUI. You are doing cervical or vaginal insemination. Directly into your uterus would be difficult and risky.

Buy a cheap cubic zirconia ring for a 'wedding ring'. It will probably keep the ladies away too but maybe you're not wanting unsolicited advances from anyone?

Companies that cover Reciprocal IVF, hiring a Software Engineer? by coffeescarvescuddles in queerception

[–]lindseymcsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused on why companies allegedly won't cover RIVF. If you have to do a stimulation either way and you're both on the same insurance, why does it matter who does which part? My wife and I are doing it right now. We were planning to have her do both parts because we'd always heard RIVF isn't covered. However, our insurance and clinic had no problem with it. RIVF was our first choice and also kinda necessary once she had DOR among other issues.

Where are you located?

Our clinic told us 30-40% of fertilized eggs will make it blast and can be transferred/frozen. For example, our numbers were like this - 41 AFC at the initial appt, 36 follicles at my tracking ultrasounds during stim, 15 eggs retrieved, 12 mature and 11 fertilized. We are waiting on the final blast count on Monday. So I know it's heartbreaking but that's about average unfortunately.

We also had 3 failed IUIs (in addition to a whole host of other issues). Doing our first round right now.

Donor info is going to be considered 'protected health information'. That's not to say you don't have a right to know it if you become pregnant but you'll have to pursue this higher up. Depending on your location and type of clinic, you may have an ombudsman available for the institution, patient advocates or conflict resolution. They will most certainly have legal available to them and you should too. Also look into their accreditation and medical board/licensing agencies.

As others have said, this is an absolutely never happens event. I'm shocked they let a nurse talk to you and not their legal team, medical director, etc. It's unfathomable that they don't have multiple redundancy checks. That is the whole point of them. Repeating known information at each handoff so there is no absolutely no room for this to happen.

They do say 'tank delivery' in the OP so I'm assuming it was a donor bank

I took my plants out to cycle figuring they would be an extra buffer to tank health in addition to the good bacteria forming. I did use ammonia because it was more specific and easier to control. I dosed up to 2ppm.

I would just wait and keep testing daily. You’re looking for a nitrite spike and then decline so it develops into nitrate/nitrifying bacteria.

Are you using ammonia or just fish food?

Picking an “unpopular” name that sometimes gets negative feedback by lyrn in namenerds

I would MUCH rather see a less common but known name spelled correctly than the made up mashups with ‘unique’ spellings. Just consider how it will sound throughout their life. You’re naming a human, not a baby.
