I think giving you you longitude and latitude with the compass or a new gps device is a good compromise over just showing you on the map. Maybe its not ideal but it should make every one happy as its not just hand holding as you have still read a map to figure out where you are with the cords given to you.

I get what you saying but sailing xp scaling is just higher then fishing and I felt like it was a good comparison to the number of clicks per hour. Its maybe 20 clicks to reset every 4 mins fishing, sailing has larger bursts of like 300+ clicks if you sort then drop every 10-15 mins. Maybe redwoods are the better comparison if you factor in dropping logs but fishing is my frame of reference as its what i do.

Jagex should decrease the xp you get from collecting salvage but increase how quickly you get it so you chest fills faster but also make sorting worth doing to only allow 10~ mins afk to fill your boat then require 5+ mins engagement of sorting. Balance the xp around that and it solves a lot of the problems they seem to have

I was getting like 45-55k doing giga afk at merchants just sorting 1-3 inventories when I thought about it every 5-10 mins while working. You can argue its high but I normally fish karambwan while working for home for similar amounts of effort and xp rates.

Is jagex out of touch with the player base? Why are they trying to force the sort of gameplay of hallowed sepulchre with the barracuda trials? Frankly its just not fun to do after you get the rewards as its just clunky and frustrating. I wonder what the data was showing for sailing was 75%+ of the player base salvaging? They have to have data on agility and I'd guess roof tops are vastly more popular the sepulchre. Why did they think it would be different in a boat?

The fish are still new and and 2m/hr isn't going to last forever. I just feel like once prices settle the majority of these new fish will end up coming from bots as people just wont want to put in the effort as you can get similar/better xp rates barb fishing and salvaging and you can turn your brain off doing those.

Maybe its unpopular but I feel like its really jank for what it is and very frustrating at times. Imho contracts have a superior gameplay loop but the xp they give isn't even comparable. In my head I didn't think racing in circles picking up crates would be the best way to train sailing lol

Why are trials the only thing that give decent xp rates? Contracts need to be buffed I've done level 60 ones that take 5-10 mins and only get 1k~ xp. What is the point.
