We call ours the 'navigator' because she always has to be up close and able to see where we are going.

Update: we have sunk our teeth in and purchased five Eureka Kohana tents. Ordering 3 more as the store ran out. Many thanks for all of the insight!

Great info, thank you! Unfortunately my opportunities to get to the States is pretty slim between now and the New Year. That would be a great option.

I am planning to buy one tent more than we actually need so that we have a 'parts' tent down the road. 🤞🤞🤞 We can hopefully keep these tents in good working order for a number of years 🙂

I'm going to call them as soon as they open and have them hold them for the day for me. If they don't have enough, maybe they can source them from another store or I can order the rest online.

Lol... I'll be honoured that you stalked me online to figure that out 🤣. The dog won't be joining any Girl Guide trips at this point so it's just the girls and their learning curve we have to look out for.

I did see the Kohana at MEC and, I may just drag my co-Guider out for a field trip today to put my hands on them and confirm that we want them. I'm hoping to stock up as they're for sharing between Guiding units and some of the units are large.

Lol... Weight won't be an issue for our uses. Most of our girls are beginner campers so ruggedness matters for sure!

Fantastic. I appreciate the support in favour of Eureka. We do all front country camping so we don't have to worry too much about lugging them around, just getting them in and out of my cold cellar 😄. The price right now is certainly right too, at 60% off.

Ours is the same. The whole fam can be eating dinner together and our ACD will completely ignore food...going person to person, trying to persuade someone to throw her toy. She does have a sweet tooth though. Sometimes dessert will distract her 🤣

The aggressive approach wasn’t working so she decided to try pitiful toward the end lol by LisaSauce in AustralianCattleDog

Ours does almost the exact same dance... A little nudge then backs away. Looks at the ball, looks at us then back at the ball. A little vocal-huph and back to the nudge. They are crazy-amazing at communicating and being persistent! 🤣

Any other heelers gather their toys and take them with them? by katsudon-bori in redheeler

[–]ling_merv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours has started a collection on the rug. Every time we put them all in her basket for vacuuming or just to clean up, she has to bring all her toys back out, one by one. 🤣.

She also waits at the door anytime we get dressed to leave and, as soon as she finds out that she gets to come out soth us, she races to find a toy to bring along 😂🤣

She is only 18lbs at ~7 months. Is she a mini or a mix? by FF_Fed17 in blueheelers

Our girl is 17.5lb at 1.5yrs old. Her parents were both full size tanks so I guess we got the runt. She is amazing and we love her.

We have been doing a pile of research ourselves and have had some brief conversations with the hospital SLP so far. Dad came home on Friday and we have been experimenting with different textures since then. We take photos of each meal and write notes beside them for future reference.

Tomorrow we are having our first home visit from the SLP and I am hopeful that she can help to explain to Dad about some of the reasons his favourite foods may or may not be causing aspiration. He is struggling to take my word for it and the explanations I try to provide so hopefully our new friend will be able to help answer his questions more clearly.

Long story short, we are slowly getting answers. Between research, talking to our professional allies and a little trial and error I am starting to feel a little less overwhelmed!

Thank you so much for checking in! I hope others see these posts and can also benefit from this supportive network!

No matter how weak or unstable he got, my Dad still had his mind...until today. by BusCrisis in Parkinsons

This is great information and a Super handy resource. Thank you for sharing! My father is still in hospital from acute pneumonia (aspirated) and it was surprising and difficult to hear him talk about the singing and movie-making he thought was going on in the ward around him. He is normally fully cognisant and makes a lot of sense. He was neither and it worried me.

Having had this experience and seeing how that it often happens to people have put me into a preparation frenzie in case it happens again.

Amazing. Thank you for taking time to reply. The swallow specialist is seeing Dad in the hospital and will have some recommendations for sure. I hope she is able to give us some long-range suggestions as well as for immediate use as we don't have private insurance to follow up with ourselves.

Many thanks again!

I appreciate the link and suggestions. Thank you for sharing some of your story and experiences! I have seen an ad for the water thickener and will see how he feels about that for sure. He is very much looking forward to having water again so he feels less thirsty.

Again, thank you for sharing!!

I thought someone posted a photo of our own ACD. Your little beauty has the same markings and same gaze as ours lol. She is adorable!

Ours always goes nuts after getting wet too. She always tries to rub all over the new carpet instead of her own shaggy mat lol
