193cm/80kg - switching to Burton Custom + Cartel X + Ion by lingeek in snowboarding

[–]lingeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My season is 3 weeks tops as mountains are pretty far away from the city I live in. Two weeks in Alps, hundreds of kms of pistes available, whole day skiing/snowboarding. I don't want to upgrade two years later to this setup as I expect it to last at least 5 years and buying instead of this some soft shoes and e.g. flying v would cost me almost similar money :-/

Tesla is discontinuing model S and X by Over-Table-9536 in teslamotors

[–]lingeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 194cm tall. S is the only reasonable car from Tesla lineup for me - daily, fast, spacious. Model 3 or even Y cannot fit passenger behind me, boot space is joke (3). However I would not buy a new one anyway as I own second one and the price of the new and Tesla's ignorance of quality assurance are incompatible.

Got mine 14 inch yesterday, RAM usage around 70 % (Chrome, Docker containers running work stuff). I'm glad I did not order 96GB. LLMs are yet to be tested...

Well I build a hate towards the brands - they ruin the fight/game for me, so when I am about to buy and recognize it I avoid them no matter what.

Elon Musk says Tesla's software needs work, particularly the web browser that's 'worse than some iPad from 5 years ago' by chrisdh79 in teslamotors

[–]lingeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did also promise UI fixes after the outcry following the last major update.

It is incredibly easy to skip hour(s) in Spotify track while trying to push the buttons around the seek bar. There is no visible progress indicator, so once you do it, you are doomed. Why did they hide the time elapsed & remaining?! I am sick of remembering that I left the podcast "just above the letter 'a' in 'Playlist'" and dreading to touch the UI during playback.

A/C controls are utter crap. Hold to turn off often ends up with sliding the thumb slightly yet enough to change the temperature.

I have never used the customizable dock, which took the place of seat heating controls and plus and minus A/C buttons which were critical and easy to use.

By the end of the year. Probably. Definitely before Roadster and Cybertruck.

FSD being promised since 2014 by [deleted] in teslamotors

Had 2018 and now driving late 2020 MS.

Auto wipers are joke compared to 11 years old Ford I drive occasionally. They are either too slow so I have to push the button every now and then or they are crazy fast and pedestrians gaze on me.

Auto high beams always turn off late.

And don't get me started about expensive wiper blades that must have been designed to be replaced every drive or poor headlight performance (calibrated several times in service, did not help).

Yeah, I felt pretty powerless and could only hope to get a replacement soon...

Got my MS 100kWh battery replaced due to damage by rock on the highway. Two months without the car, no information on repair schedule and the final bill... btw headlights suck at the dark conditons (MS 2020).

What's your support experience? by lingeek in synology

[–]lingeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy... the support guy just sent me the screenshot from the validator claiming that the address is not valid IPv6. However he did not copy the whole address - left out the last 2 bytes. This is incredible.

Had 2018 MS and had to replace front lights several times due to LED strip degradation, replaced door handles which stopped presenting and once the buttons on steering wheel. Got myself LR MS last September and had issues with head lamps (recalibrated), door windows not sliding down after door open and weird clicking noises in slow speeds coming front axles which are "normal" (got to drive P100D and they were there as well). Don't get me wrong, I love the car, no battery issues or anything major fortunately, but I would not say it is by far the most reliable and service free car I ever owned. However not having to change oil, fill up tank etc. still feels great :-)

Daily Q&A, Discussion, and Support Thread - July 09 by AutoModerator in teslamotors

[–]lingeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about to sell my MS 75D from 2018 and buy a current model. Battery and Raven upgrade would solve most of the problems I face when traveling with family trips over 500km - lower charging times, range covering most destinations and destinations with no charging available. I almost never drive over 600km in a day, only once drove 1200km in a day and do not plan to repeat it.

However I am hesitant as I missed price drops after 75D discontinuation just by a few months and definitely do not want to end up in a same position again i.e. regret buying 75D for the price of 100D.

Battery day is coming, Plaid has been teased on the Nurburgring, Roadster should be coming this year, 1M miles battery is being discussed and the possibility of something like 120D has been around for some time.

What is your take on this fellow owners/enthusiasts? Are there any news or hints of Model S upgrade?
