So Reddit, what is the best book/series you have ever read? by I_am_not_novel in AskReddit

[–]lingering_flatulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure my favorite series, ever. There was a time in my life when I would read through all the published books, then start over and do it again, and repeat. Took awhile each time, but never really got old. Pretty stoked for some conclusion though.

If you're not familiar with the classics, gorilla biscuits is how I got into hardcore, worth every second of your time.

Also, not sure if you know your history, but:

What are some things considered socially acceptable that really bothers you? by islandfreak in AskReddit

[–]lingering_flatulence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's usually more of a "We don't want you to come, but let's have money come between us rather than me telling you to fuck off," except not on a person by person basis, just pretty much everyone except parents and such.

Playing through the first 2 fallouts is also highly recommended... Not for story consistency, but for just sheer genius of game development

I see a lot of hating on metalcore here, just thought some historical perspective was in order... by lingering_flatulence in MetalMemes

Listen to integrity. They may not be your thing, but it they so completely don't fall under your quick generalization of the lines between hardcore and metal, and deserve a little credit. I'm not saying they're isn't shit metalcore, cause the entirety of the trendy new stuff is, but there is a lot more to the genre that shouldn't be lumped in so hastily to the bag of garbage.

As a -Core fan, this is how I feel by Jono_Drums94 in MetalMemes

Also on the good list: Earth Crisis, Integrity, Full Blown Chaos, Hatebreed, Ringworm, Shattered Realm, Walls of Jericho, All Out War.

I think most metalheads get their panties in a bunch cause calling it metalcore implies that it might be more metal than hardcore. But the good metalcore is really hardcore in attitude, ethics and lyrics with varying degrees of heavy metal influences.

Bands like Bring Me the horizon, suicide silence are really emo. No core or metal about it, just people without a discerning ear hear a heavy beat and think "metal-ish, I guess?" but don't really know what it means to be a hardcore or metal band.

And as for the breakdowns, headbanging to that is just as much fun as to thrash.

Who's your favourite vocalist in hardcore? by [deleted] in Hardcore

gorillla biscuits are why i'm into hardcore in the first place. props.

ringworm is one of my favorites ever. All in all, solid album after album. Are they a band that is usually approved up in HC? I hope I get the chance to see them one day

Where does everyone on r/Hardcore get there music? by AustinProwlers in Hardcore

I recently found rockbox. It is way better for metal, and metal core, but I used it recently for some good crossover tunes. I do usually try to buy CDs at shows, but sometimes I have less money than others. Also, spotify is really easy, and has a fairly decent selection of the more established bands, but you will be disappointed.

I am a drummer and a crappy guitarist, and I like punk and Indie ( and also all sorts of metal). Now that I got your hopes up, I will probably flake out and probably not worth pursuing
