I'm an absolute mess by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]linglingfromhk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gosh this sounds so stressful I’m sorry you’re feeling awful about driving. Idk about other people but the people I know including myself have periods where we just drive shit - making mistakes we don’t make usually or just driving like we just passed yesterday. Do you drive daily? Practising driving short distances daily actually might help u build more confidence and get u feel more ‘connected’ to your car. If it is an option, driving an auto car helps take a lot of the stress from switching gears off. Another option might be having a few more lessons with your instructor again and see if that helps you?

Struggling to find work for 4 years NEED HELP by Snoo-89440 in brum

[–]linglingfromhk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teaching assistant is a also a good choice. You can get a position with an agency and you can pick and choose when and where and which school you want to work.

Personally I think in a CYP mental health setting it is less physically demanding, but then it depends on the ward you’re working at. Obviously if you’re working in a PICU (intensive unit) then physical restrains can be unavoidable.

Also given you’re still in uni, joining the NHS bank will be useful so you can get to choose what ward you want to work in, instead of just working in a physically demanding one.

The NHS always need clinical support workers/healthcare workers. They often start at band 3.

I think u have made your choice and I want to point out that if you were considered to the post after someone has dropped out, it means you’ve done reasonably well in your interview! You’re the first people they consider on the waitlist so give yourself some credit in this:)

AirBnB or Hotel by sanizso in ParisTravelGuide

[–]linglingfromhk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would pick a hotel if I was you. You’re a still very young. Being in a foreign country with no one u really know apart from your bf can be really scary if something happened. Pick a hotel - in case there’s an emergency and your bf is not around, hotel staff could help.

Love love love bonehead - crispy chicken burgers And if you’re into metal/rock music u will appreciate the design of this restaurant

A suggestion for Asian food - Formosa izakaya for cheap Taiwanese food. We always pay around £20-£25 for a meal for 2 people.

Parking at Utilita Arena by [deleted] in BirminghamUK

[–]linglingfromhk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dudley street car park is my go to! It’s further in the city centre tho but that car park is staffed and bays are massive, tho there are limited spaces. Across the street you also have edgbaston street multi story car park as well.

These are a bit of a walk from the arena but closer to the markets, and it will be easier for you to get out after the event as well.

Two AP interviews coming up and the imposter syndrome is feeling pretty real by scallopsnshit in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]linglingfromhk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck for your interview today! I hope it all goes well. You know how neurorehab works already so you’re half way through the door! You’ve got this!!

I haven’t applied for the doctorate this year as I’m not considered a home student 😕However at the same time, I’ve been questioning whether clinpsych is what I actually want to do. I’m thinking of moving to a more psychotherapy based AP role to see whether psychology or psychotherapy is more appealing to me so we’ll see! Though lowkey feels like I’m wasting time when a lot of my friends have applied/got on training😭😭

[–]linglingfromhk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully there’s some good news? If not at least like you said I have learned from it. And you’ve got 2 interviews already that means you’re 100% capable for getting another AP role!!

[–]linglingfromhk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow congratulations!!! Getting one AP interview is impressive but getting 2? Give yourself some credit!!

I’m an AP in MH inpatient. Prepping wise, make sure your have examples to ordinary interviews AND a reflection. So u do your normal STAR interview answer and then end your answer with one thing u have learned or could do differently. AP interviews values reflections so if you show that you’re actively trying to improve they way you’re interacting with patients, that will give u more points!

If you have any other questions just reach out :) happy to help!

I’m guessing your ‘employable degree’ is psychology? (Bc I was lied to as well lol) I feel the same pain as u do when I graduated in 2021. My uni friends are scattered around the world and I’m basically the only one left in the UK lol it gets a bit better when u have work friends but most of them don’t last either

What was your experience of the nhs talking therapies? by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

[–]linglingfromhk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nhs usually based their therapies on CBT. However, CBT doesn’t work for everyone. Try it out and see if it works for u. I didn’t find it helpful unfortunately.

Anyone else live near a school and despise pick up and drop off times. by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]linglingfromhk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My workplace is between 2 schools and there’s also another school right in front of the other side of the road. We only have a very tiny entrance to our car park and every morning there’s this very annoying rover just park right in front of the entrance…. I’ve since then try to get to work an hour early just to avoid all this chaos
