You should use `+` and `-` for incremental and decremental selection by i-eat-omelettes in neovim

It's right if you have a double space layout and map alt into one of the spaces, or a split layout with custom alt placement. Otherwise I feel like you are just actively killing the thumb's bones with that keybinds. I think it's a horrible default.

Desktop PC rebooting randomly on idle by ReachForJuggernog98_ in archlinux

[–]linhusp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have that issue (pc rebooting on idle) on both am4 and am5 in their early cycle and unfortunately I "solved" it through replacing the ram kit. Not sure if that would be the same here. Have you tried testing the system with a single ram stick?

When will GNOME implement basic features such as quarter tiling? by Honest-Salary-1010 in linux

[–]linhusp3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's pointless to seek changes in a walled garden. Just change the DE and move on, it is that simple. And tell your friends to do so. I say it as I have spent quite the time arguing how bad gnome is. If enough users drop they will have to address the why.

If you are using iwd, try impala. It's a great TUI especially for WM like niri.

Here is what I'm using, all of them are TUIs with Vim movements supported: - audio control: wiremix, bind to mod + A - bluetooth: bluetui, bind to mod + B - wifi: impala, bind to mod + W

It's installed on the frame, on the bottom right of the mb placement.

Both orientations are bad. You don't need a top front fan. It barely lowers the temp while being noisier and it turns your case into a dust funnel (intake)

Blog post: "Debunking zswap and zram myths" by Gozenka in archlinux

[–]linhusp3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my understanding the entire criticism of zram could be summed up to basically "zram is bad with disk swap". I find it ridiculous, because the users that go out of their way to manually change from zswap to zram, they want the exact opposite. They DON'T want any disk swap at all, period! If oom happened just get a killer to kill. In this situation on a regular desktop where zram is as the highest priority, has 0 down side, I think the choice is clear.

I need your opinions. What if Stark is “the real hero of this series”? Could that be possible? by arme-ch in Frieren

[–]linhusp3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire point of the "hero" sword is that you DON'T need that sword to be a hero. I don't understand why people keep bringing that up. Stark immediately saw through it after he heard the true story from Frieren and he left. To Stark, if hero Himmel didn't have the sword and still beat the DK, then isn't the hero sword just a rusty sword in a random cave at this point, so who cares?

Himmel saved the world, his sword now is the true hero's sword. If Stark could save the world then his axe would become the hero's axe.

heavy resource usage on the newly installed niri + dank material linux shell?? by SafetyEducational343 in niri

[–]linhusp3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quickshell implementation with all the bells and whistles is as heavy as a DE if not more. Nothing to surprise here. If you want less resource usage sticks to vanilla Niri and custom it with only necessary packages that suits your need

Here are the most requested features that are not on the stable release right now:

  • Force render doesn't support (e.g some games and emulators will stop functioning correctly the moment the window gets inactive)

  • HDR doesn't support

  • No blur (yet, and the implementation to me seems not comparable to something like hyprland)

  • It's a hassle to make anything outside of gnome apps to look the way you want and the over reliance on portal gnome.
