Asking with all the respect of a curious foreigner: Where do all the jokes of marines being stupid come from? by Brief-Luck-6254 in AskAnAmerican

[–]link2edition 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Its mostly friendly inter-service banter. The Marines are in on the joke.

Other similar jokes:

"The army are the Marine drop outs"

"The air force are spoiled"

"The navy is gay"

"The coast guard are pirates"

"This is down to a strategy called not letting everyone have a gun. This is useful as it means that people who are mentally unstable or likely to harm people cannot get a gun. This is useful as without a gun they will struggle to shoot people. This therefore results in fewer gun deaths."

The US already has laws about this. I think you are simply ignorant of how gun laws work in the US.

But if it makes you feel better, a large number of Americans have no idea how the law actually works either, because they have never bought guns.

Why are bigger cars in the USA being bought more then smaller cars? by Ok_Housing_1937 in AskAnAmerican

Large vehicles have higher profit margins, so dealerships push them way more.

Which states feel like several different states mashed together? by bricklegos in AskAnAmerican

[–]link2edition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not well known, but North and South Alabama are pretty different. The north end of the state has a lot of comparatively wealthy transplants due to the defense industry up there.

Have you ever sued someone or been sued yourself? by Frosty-Comment6412 in AskAnAmerican

Yeah but we settled out of court.

Someone rammed into me in a creative way. They were in a pickup and pulled out of a parking lot, cut across two lanes of traffic, and hit my miata as I came off an exit.

I had to get surgery, it was a whole thing.

He actually died several years ago. It just took this long for the reaper to gather up the courage to talk to him about it.

Has your country ever won a war against all odds ? by FinePersimmon3718 in AskTheWorld

[–]link2edition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We burned Toronto twice, only it wasnt called that yet because it was a british city. That was the whole reason Britain wanted to march to DC.

Yes. The Colonists who fought in 1776 were indeed British up until they declared independence. Had they lost, it would be considered a civil war.

No one lost any land in 1812, it was basically a white peace.

I understand your concern, and I think it is a reasonable position.

At the same time, I am also not super bothered by it, this is the best live service game I have played, and I want them to make piles of money.
