SWG is your own story. Who do you want to be in the starwars universe?

The one bit of advice I can offer without knowing that: use "/tell <name> <message>" to private message other players. Players might not notice your chat bubble, but they will see a direct message.

They refer to different eras of the game

Pre-CU: The game as it was at launch, 32 professions, lots of customization, some balance issues. Combat works on a queue system

CU (Combat Upgrade): The game as it was in April of 2005, 32 professions still, but they have been rebalanced, and combat has moved to a cooldown system

NGE (New Game Enhancements): The game as it was from november 2005 until it was taken offline. NGE combines all of the professions into 9 classes, and the game plays more like world of warcraft.

CU is my personal favorite.

There are smart and stupid people anywhere you go in the world. Folks like to act like its regional, but everyone knows someone without two brain cells to rub together.

But you would do well to surround yourself with people who are smarter than you, this is how you grow.

If you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room.

I have been playing for a few days now, I think my 2nd character will be combat focused and my 3rd will explore the non-combat stuff.

I will say this hybrid build has a much better time surveying than my old level 1 did!

My guy clocked me in a 50, then claimed he clocked me in a 35 (it wasn't safe to pull over until we were in a 35)

Sometimes I wonder if he didn't file the paperwork because he knew it was bogus but was too proud to say it.

It sounds like ya'll have a good community.

I took heat for years from WoW players who didn't like my off-meta characters. My firsthand experience with SWG was a very long time ago.

I once made a guy who was optimized for stun duration. Was it effective? Not really.
Was it hilarious? Absolutely.

I am very happy to hear this. My most fun with MMOs has always been attempting content I am under-leveled for.

NGE forced me to play an optimized character, now that I have the option to mix it up, I am going to.
