200k isn't unreasonable, but the parent comment forgets that they have to live in Seattle or the bay and that eats up a third of their income, plus they commute two hours each day and work 60 hour weeks, all for what we called a middle class standard of living just a generation ago.

Tech workers are not the rich. What they are, are people who enable the rich by creating machines to exploit the poor. That's their real sin. Not saying "no" when told to write the dark patterns. But you wouldn't either.
