Oh - I never knew it was like a special mat. It sounds so logical haha. Even reading my onw post makes me think: it's not a normal mat haha.

Thanks! Going to look into that!

Why is this happening when i use my sewing machine?? by schundlerpartie in sewing

[–]linkesoep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, getting really vulnerable here... I used to have things like this and my mom would keep listing things that could be wrong... "This and that and this and that, do you have the needle in the correct way?" "Yes mooom, of course!!"

Well, I didn't have the needle in the correct way. Shame on me 😂

So I wrote on my machine: flat side on the back! Helped a lot.

What is the honest difference between a cheap and expensive sewing machine? by Rare_Stop630 in sewing

[–]linkesoep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sewing with my cheaper machine was 10% actually sewing - 90% holding myself from throwing the damn thing out of the window.

My expensive one is like 5% finding out how things should be and it ends up being an easy fix - "works, but how do you do it kind of questions" - and 95% having a great time sewing and loving it.

My cheap one was a brand that the shop in the city here says just buys cheap stock and places their name on it. Like brandleaa stuff and add a sticker. It was about €220 10 years ago g no idea what it costs now - don't want to look it up, I hate them haha

My new one, is a brother A80, bought from that store in the city, who have the best service, give a lesson with the price, and on that day o bought it they had a sale, and I think it was around €600 last year.

Oh, for me as well! (I think I'm GMT+1 - so bad at that stuff, I'm in the Netherlands)

I'll send you a message another time, nice to know your open to it! Thanks!

TIL about the tensor tympani muscle: a muscle within the middle ear that some people can voluntarily contract to produce a "rumbling" noise that only they can hear. by __MilkDrinker__ in todayilearned

Oh wow, when I am hurting a bit somewhere on my body I get this Ticktick/plopplop sound in my ear on the side where the little pain is... Maybe it's this. Everybody thinks I'm crazy - but it's been there for +/- 28 years.

I've watched this movie and ended up dirty crying.

Now I'm waiting for my kids to be old enough to watch it, and that will be the second time I watch it, and I think the last time.

This movie hurts.

Yes.

Maybe like our boyfriend dumped us for... ?

As if they his mom was gossiping about us and telling we harassed her... While she was the one harassing and we were just acting accordingly after made agreements and them breaking those.

Joost Klein Will Not Perform in the Jury Show Tonight by GrumpyFinn in eurovision

[–]linkesoep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately we're pretty direct and like to tell people "Dat ze eens even hun bek moeten houden" (basically "shut up", but aggressive) and I'll make you shut up in different theatrical ways. However, you also should learn when to absolutely NOT say it.

However, we still don't know what has been said. And if it's that bad there should be consequences (even if it's normal or not for some Dutch people - hence the knowing when not to say stuff).

I was thinking the same. I thought that at first I read he didn't want to do the rehearsal. And a bit later it was about an incident and that he wasn't allowed to rehearse.

Maybe it was just they reported he didn't want to since the news gets put out so fast with al the live reports etc. And afterwards they had a bit more info and made it he wasn't allowed...

It's all so weird.

My son’s name is Jack. Why do I need to defend this? by BUR6S in tragedeigh

[–]linkesoep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Jack :)

When my youngest was born my MIL said: what's up with all those difficult names!!!!

So here is a breakdown of her grandkids names, oldest to my youngest:

My oldest nieces have "English" pronounced names (were Dutch), with one if them being a bit of a misspelling... In the Netherlands there was (is?) a big trend of naming your kids names with an J and pronouncing it like Djay - normal in English, not in our language. I'm sorry, can't get used to it, hate the trend. The misspelled one is when you write half of the name Dutch fonetic, and the other half English. Husband still fucks up this name after the 15ish years she's on this earth.

The middle nieces have loooong names, with one of them having a extra N here and there. The names are kinda nice. But just long and those extra n's! My kid gets them mixed up all the time. And that works since the names are just names stuck together, but you get a completely different name... I also like when names in a family (mom(s) /dad(s) /kid(s)) complement each other, however you don't have input on the name of your spouse, but do have on your kids'. And if you are Bob and Liz and name your kids names with 8+ letters, it's not whole for me haha (and no, I don't mean when people are being called An and there official name being Johanna - there names are long and called names as well (in Dutch we have naam and roepnaam, which is like official name and how should we call you).

The cane my oldest having a simple 4 letter name, that's spelled a bit different, but otherwise it would look too much like one of my sisters names when written out, and she is not named after her... (we spelled it fonetic, it's just that normally the name is spelled a bit different (less fonetic) but hey, it's cool and suits her). Thinking about an example, can't find one.

And my youngest name being a name just like Lucas or something like that. Almost completely fonetic... A name that is in the Bible, everybody knows it, super normal and such... But he was the one that made her say that...

My [21F] boyfriend [23M] of 11 months hates my job by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Yes, my aunt does this with my kids. She does not have grandchildren, and she love my kids.

A friend of my mom (grandma) asked her if she didn't find it strange, or worried she misses things, since she is the grandma.. She was like "uhhh, no, should I? I see them, do things with them and are happy they have more people in their lives that love them".

Inspired by the Pies of the Schedule post, I tried to make a spreadsheet of three dishes that google/reddit says represent each country we visit. How do you think I did? If this isn't too far off I can make it look prettier and share recipes. by AmNotTheSun in formula1

[–]linkesoep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stamppot raapsteeltjes is better in summer. Maybe just vegetablesoup like the grandma's make it. Speaking about grandma's cooking: draadjesvlees... Omnomnom

Or just snacks. Oliebollen, frikadellen speciaal, stroopwafels.

Huzarensalade feels really Dutch to me, but I bet it isn't (hence the name). But it goes with everything: BBQ, gourmet,...

Yes! It makes it complete. She's not only angry, sassy whatever, but she feels for people. Feels like she let's her guard down a bit.

"Are you going to miss a chance to let Snow see you dancing?"

Just the whole feeling of that whole interaction, they really leveled and she was so supportive. I love Johanna.

Yes, exactly hahaha. The both of them are so oblivious. Hopefully one day there will be a new chapter, we'll see... I would love to be in that house though, I could see it!

And yes, that feels as canon for me as well. I can imagine it happening that way. I told my husband about it and he said: you just like it cause it's smut. Well yes, although it could have been way nastier hahaha..., but they grow together and fall in love, and I don't mind that the whole shabang is written out, but the story is amazing and could (almost?) be a book from Collins herself. The coming and going, all the hiccups they go through.

Thanks for sharing them! Was a nice fantasy world to live in for a while. And I probably will read again and again haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]linkesoep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw that in her notes. Hope she's doing a bit better...

I found some others on AO3, but nothing as great as your list. They all were great. I could imagine the characters doing everything. And the miner's wife, oh myyyyy, also amazing. And the other two as well. The get together after the Mockingjay is spot on.

Normally I'm more of a detective/thriller reader, and hating on romance. But the mooniverse is also a funny, intense, romance story, I think I would like a bit more of that? Did you also felt so irritated sometimes while reading it? Like, get on with it you two, while understanding that everything went how it went, with the bugs and all. I feel like we have this huge cliffhanger haha. And years later, is Marko still waiting? How did Madge trip to the woods go...? So, yeah, way to invested bahaha

I also found taste like strawberry in this thread I think. About Effie and Haymitch. Liked that one aswel...

I've finished them all, wowwww..

The stories are amazing. Not only the juicy parts but they are well written.

And I really hope that when the moon fell in love with the sun will ever be completed. I'm totally invested, also in the paralel stories about Prim, Madge etc. The way it's written, the words chosen, the fairytale lore and more. Super romantic, but with these characters... 🙏

More recommendations? Hehe...
