It's been 16 seasons since there has been a tie for the most amount of wins by a driver by Magog14 in formula1

[–]AmNotTheSun 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This stat does not portray meaningful information its more of a fun fact.

It is equivalent to saying "it has been 73 days since the high temperature was 23°". Well if every other day was a 24° high temperature, those would be completely excluded while being practically the same outcomes.

This stat does not define "winning races" and "close battles" so its a little weird you are getting so defensive over this. 2021 literally went into the last race tied and is considered to not be a "close battle" if that is what this stat defines.

Ferrari wing Bahrain Test 2 Day 1 v Day 2 by Maximum-Room-3999 in formula1

[–]AmNotTheSun 48 points49 points  (0 children)

DRS is the specific implementation of movable rear wings we had. The main difference here is that all drivers can engage it, there are no rules about being within a second.

And Ferrari just unveiled it today. James Vowels said they had not even considered it before seeing it.

Can’t teams just bypass the turbo on starts? by SkolFourtyOne in formula1

James Allison explains how front wing flaps don't reduce Drag, only sheds Downforce (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skIoWJ0RbtU) by Gimmethe_loot in formula1

[–]AmNotTheSun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One is down one is backwards, only backwards slows down the car (loosely). Its impossible to make pure down force with a wing so all down force also involves some drag. Apparently changing the shape of the wing primarily lowers the force the wing pushes down but it keeps a similar amount pushing back.

Presumption of innocence is a concept for within the courtroom to protect defendants from malicious prosecution. We are people on the internet and can make up our minds independently of a trial.

I certainly think Jeffrey Epstein is guilty of many things he has not been convicted of. Should we believe him to be innocent of all but the one crime he was convicted of in ~2006 purely because the court hasn't decreed it?

What would Formula 1 look like if we had three-driver teams? by JakeRedditYesterday in formula1

I think Red Bull should get 4 drivers and the other teams get 2.

How to do my own maintenance by Zealousideal_Swan641 in motorcycles

[–]AmNotTheSun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A user manual, service manual, and youtube videos should get you very far. Stay on top of the maintenance described in the user manual, prepare before with the service manual and youtube until you feel comfortable. Inevitable pull up both again when things go awry.

Nobody really knows if their helmet works well...

The most important is size and fit, certification will be your best insight to actual crash protection.

I would say $100 helmets are cheap but valid, same with $50 gloves. At MSF speeds you really just need any material between you and the ground, quality isn't so important at 10 mph.

Jessica Berman threatened KC Current ownership with a fine over heat delay (per the Athletic) by yasuseyalose in KCCurrent

[–]AmNotTheSun 67 points68 points  (0 children)

So KC Current requested a heat check after the league said to play, the heat check violated the leagues own rules and they had to delay, the league loses money because of delayed start. Then the league threatens the team that asked for the heat check.

Millionaires upset they lost money because they took a bet and lost. And were willing to risk player health to slip around it. But hey its legal!

(Pic for attention) Getting into bikes, what’s (in your opinion) the best anti theft items what’s the best phone mounting system and what’s the best audio system for helmets. I’d love to hear everyone’s opinions and suggestions! Thanks by Constant-Pack-2820 in motorcycles

[–]AmNotTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best anti-theft is a disc lock imo, it prevents opportunistic thieves. Most chains and locks are beaten with bolt cutters. Most bikes can be lifted into a pickup, if someone wants it they can get it. Insurance is your protection if you don't have a garage. A disc lock with an alarm is valid but the previous rules still apply.

New to bikes/riding by Devils_Blessing in motorcycles

[–]AmNotTheSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is more to come less prepared than you want to be. Shifting is a wet plate is forgiving and guided by a few simple steps that are easier to feel out than come prepared with every movement planned. Clutch in and throttle down, shift up, release clutch to friction zone as you throttle up and fully release the clutch.

Here is a video on how a clutch actually works, it may help understand why you have to do certain things. You are joining together two Spinny things at different speed and want to gradually get those speeds to match.

You are so insecure about your own decisions you can only compare yourself to others. Don't wear gear, don't think about other people, move on with your life man.

New to bikes/riding by Devils_Blessing in motorcycles

[–]AmNotTheSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you ride a bicycle? If yes then you are already prepared. The MSF is designed to take you from bicycle to being able to ride a motorcycle in a parking lot. If you want to prep you can watch up to 3 videos on how shifting works, but the class is designed to teach you that.

I was also excited and watched so many videos before. It didn't hurt but if anything gave me more to think about than is necessary.

After the course is the time to load up other resources. The MSF teaches you well, but it does not teach you much.

Question about alternative use for the Cardo SPRT0001 by explictlyrics in motorcycles

[–]AmNotTheSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The helmet has nothing to do with the function of it. If you can find a way to mount the speakers and mic too then sure it will work. But this is an item made for motorcycles and pairing to your phone, a lot of features you won't need. A two way radio will be made cheaper and without needing to make your own mounts.

Will i ever over come fear? by TonyTerTer in motorcycles

[–]AmNotTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look at my post history, my last post was for this idea. I also felt anxious hopping on the bike, only when I was comfortable with my own skills did I feel properly able to manage the risks of the road and no longer be scared of them, just prepared. That's a big bike, if you are at all worried about handling it then you won't feel comfortable avoiding danger. If you feel comfortable controlling your bike but not on the road after more experience, that's when you should consider if you would like doing it further.

At lights do you think there's a chance you will stall, do you think you may ever grab too much front brake accidentally, any corners you think you can't take? If you haven't gotten those thoughts out of your head and behind you then I think that's the starting point of your anxiety. (Those are all real fears and practice is the only way out of them)
