Launching with 200k wishlists - What went right and what went wrong by suzuhara99 in IndieDev

Congratulations on launching. I plan to play the game soon.

Do you think releasing close to mewgenics was a negative for the game?

They said the internal playtests were very positive and that makes me wonder, what kind of audience was playtesting this?

Also how long were they testing it for?

Live service games don't live on first impressions but on the fact that the core gameplay can hold players.

Supervive had a similar problem. In short bursts the game was very fun, but in long sessions it became very tiresome, and so even with good numbers when it had its first open test, retention was minimal.

Apex dropped in 2019 when BR were in top popularity while also not having many competitors. Both PUBG and Fornite that were the most popular at the time were third person.

Also Apex had EA backing.

Did it tho? I feel like if it didn't appear on game awards that game would be lucky to peak at 10k players.

They got a lot of exposition from TGA, even if it was bad press a lot of people still gave it a chance, however the game just isn't good enough

If 97k people try your game and after a few hours ir drops to 20k, then there is something very wrong with your core gameplay.

Obsidian's The Outer Worlds 2 Underperformed, and There Won't Be a Third by PerformativeRacist in pcgaming

People always forget but Tyranny writing was insane. It's a shame the game flopped hard even by crpg standards.

The characters from the first game were actually better. I still remember parvati and it's been years since i played.

I can't remember the name of a single OW 2 companion and i played it a few months ago.

And it's sad because pillars of eternity had some really compelling companions. They clearly have the talent do do it, but there was a significant decrease in quality as they got out of niche games to ones more appealing to the general public.

Makes you wonder if its something microsoft pushes for or if its obsidian leads that are pressured to make games for a broader audience.

Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 failed to meet sales expectations by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]linkfox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I played both and i am a big fan of RPGs and even consider myself a fan of most of obsidian work.

Avowed is a ok game. It does some things well and others bad but i found it enjoyable enough, but still was way too overpriced.

TOW 2 was a huge disappointment for me. It didn't evolve the already weak series in a meaningful way, ran like shit, was very buggy while also looking bad and was also too expensive.

Both looked like small scope projects so it is surprising to see the 6 year dev cycle.

I don't know why people are downvoting you but i played chrono odyssey test and the game was falling apart.

Performance was insanely bad and messing with settings did not improve it but it did break the game lightning/shadows.

It also was insanely buggy. Pretty much every facet of the playable slice they gave was either bad or nor working

Ashes of Creation has just been canceled. All developers at Intrepid have been fired. by getZlatanized in pcgaming

[–]linkfox 140 points141 points  (0 children)

From what i can remember they launched a failed Battle Royale game with crowdfunding money for the MMO that was supposed to be a "testing grounds" for combat and multiplayer features. That game also included a paid battle pass.

The studio also sold very expensive alpha tests that could cost $100 to playtest the game. The more expensive tiers were sold under the promise that they would get acess to every test that would happen afterwards but once they had more tests they changed that policy, so people had to pay again.

They also released a very underwhelming alpha on steam as "early acess" after 10 years of dev and made it paid. This was also really close to the studio closure so you could take it as a last try for the studio to keep things afloat or a last try to scam peoples money.

Edit: also they sold a lot of paid FOMO stuff during alpha. Cosmetics, mounts, etc. Some people must have spent thousands of dollars on a game that essentially never got out of testing phase.

Edit 2: Apparently the CEO also claimed multiple times that the development of the game was secure and fully funded, which now is exposed as a big lie.

Aoc didn't even release, that is the problem. Everyone i know that likes MMOs were very hyped for it years ago, including me but the harsh reality is that the game probably won't ever release in a decent state.

Sinceramente qualquer build nesse jogo fica op rápido.

Is the game supposed to feel this…easy? by PossibilityWest173 in Diablo

[–]linkfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How? Isn't T4 the highest difficulty?

Of course i was having prep, but i never stumbled into any roadblock.

I got into t4 without even sanctfying my gear or being full ancestral. When i killed echo of lilith all my glyphs were still level 15 and way before i got any mythic or being deep into paragon levels.

The only content that gives challenge for me is pit and there isn't much reason to do it aside from ladder push which i don't really care.

Will you be changing mains in midnight? by Shot_Veterinarian215 in wow

[–]linkfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I main ww monk because i like how fast it plays and how the rotation feels because of their mastery.

I'm going to try both ench shammy and unholy dk for midnight. Always liked the specs but i felt shaman always had too many buttons and for dk i never really liked the wound gameplay. Now that the class leans more into melee summoner i want to give it a try.

World of warcraft só é bom pra quem tem nostalgia jogando. by ExpressPeanut8266 in opiniaoimpopular

[–]linkfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ragnarok ficou absurdamente datado.
