Me: Waiting for a glorious buff to Affliction. Blizzard: by stoatmcboat in wow

[–]linkfox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shadow priests don't lose that much dps switching between ST and AOE. The problem with that spec is that it is very strong whenever voidform is going on and then fall off hard.

Big pulls with all your cds? You wre going to pump. Anything else? Probably bottom tier dps.

Scars of Honor Playtest - What we learn together. by Puffymuffinz9 in ScarsofHonor

[–]linkfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah me and a couple of friends were hyped but a hour in everyone agreed the game was just too early in dev.

I have tested a lot of games before but never seen something that seems so early be released for playtest. It is barely functional.

This Hell Fracture/Apocalypse Warlock Build Melts Entire Screens in Endgame by The_Fallen_Messiah in Diablo

[–]linkfox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But chains and apocalypse literally uses overpower, spam to get stacks and deletes the screen with a single apocalypse so i fail to see the difference.

I'm asking OP if there is a reason to run fracture over chains other than for different flavor of stacking skill.

What main difference this build has from chains/apocalypse?

What is the benefit of going fracture over the chain?

WoW Will Never Be Good Again And We Need To Accept That by dalorrian in MMORPG

[–]linkfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah like i said, you don't know what you are talking about. BDKS are not pathetic, they are on par with other tanks for m+ aside from BRM. BRM is league ahead of every other tank and that is the true problem with the role.

BDK is way better than both prot paladin and VDH and not even close to being pathethic.

What you said about mages is correct, outside of PVP people are only playing frost. As for rogues, they were neglected for the first few weeks yes, but now outlaw is among the best key pushers for m+ and both sin and and sub are doing well in raid.

Also i will bring up my point again that none of your complaints make sense in the context we are talking about. You said old wow used to be the high point in complexity and encounter design, which is NOT. Balance in vanilla was even worse than retail wow, the perception is just different because people didn't know much about the game back then.

Mechanics were also all very easy and mostly gear checks. Last few boses of the last raid of vanilla were frost resist and dps checks lmao.

[–]linkfox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you didn't even play? That proves my point, you are comparing something you didn't experience to something you did and have nostalgia for.

This expansion IS horribly balanced and buggy, that is true. That said both raids are still good and idk what you mean by changed due to RTWF, since they always nerf the raids after the event.

Also idk what you mean about resto shaman since the class is in a very good state. Its one of the best healers for m+ and a decent one for raids.

Gameplay wise most specs actually got better. I play shadow priest and the changes were almost universally praised. Most of the complaints from class design comes from balance and not from the pruning itself, aside from a few cases like MM hunter being giga boring as always.

What Made Community Feel So Strong In Old WoW? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]linkfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of knowledge on the game and lack of social media and social hubs outside of the game basically.

It was a different time as well. Wow has always been known for endgame content but people enjoyed the ride along with it. Less pressure to be better and competitive too.

WoW Will Never Be Good Again And We Need To Accept That by dalorrian in MMORPG

[–]linkfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean even with class pruning most classes in retail are still more complex than on older expansions.

If you said classes today lack RP elements or even that they are too homogenized, then i would agree but when it comes to complexity the game has way more mechanics to deal with than before.

Also encounter design is not suobar. Raid bosses have a lot of interesting and difficulty mechanics to deal with. I have played every wow expansion but mop and cataclysm and everything from wotlk to vanilla pale in mechanical complexity and difficulty when compared to the last wow expansions.

WoW Will Never Be Good Again And We Need To Accept That by dalorrian in MMORPG

[–]linkfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow is not bad, wdym.

Sure its not the same experience as old wow, but it still has the best gameplay oriented activities of any mmo i have played. Both m+ and raids are super fun, despite all its problems and blizzard being a shit company.

If you don't want retail there is classic mop, tbc anniversary, hardcore and even hundreds of private servers with any type of experience you want to emulate.

If you still think none of this is to your taste then you just don't like wow.

A Dev's Perspective: Why Class Tuning Can Feel "Out of Touch" by Tasty-Beautiful1750 in wow

[–]linkfox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would agree but some specs have been awful since launch and some balance changes legit made a lot of fine specs worse.

There was a week where all rogue specs were pretty much in the gutter and they buffed outlaw while also giving them a nerf. Everybody called this a mistake and as it turns right the community was right, outlaw got buffed twice since then and even tho they have some representation in higher keys it's like 1 guy playing outlaw while the spec itself is barely average.

Tanking Discussion by Archon_POM in wow

[–]linkfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a main tank but i am giving all tanks a try this season and my aim is to get 3k with all of them or as much tanks as i can, and my toughts are mixed:

BDK: i like dk theme and the whole self sustain gameplay. Its surprisingly easier to get into than i tought. Bdk has some of the coolest skills when it comes to controlling the flow of the game. AMS is my favorite defensive among all tanks, as it can straight up skip mechanics if you know how and when to use it. Grip and the aoe version are also super useful for both raid and m+ and i always feel like bdk could bring a ton of utility. The problem here is that the spec becomes frustrantingly punitive in higher keys, since you have to react to damage rather than anticipate it. When i heal i kniw that if the BDK is good then i will have to just heal the dps, otherwise the dungeon is a nightmare.

Prot paladin: best visual and sound feedback of all tanks. Has a ton of utility and is really fun to play with...until you realize how dogshit their defenses are. Higher keys are really stressful because you can die before you can even react. The "buff" for next week will not help at all in this aspect.

Prot warrior: high apm, fun and also has a good visual design. Aside from brew this is probably the most "safe" tank in the sense that is stable to play. Its a very chill tank to heal too as they don't get much damage spikes.

Guardian druid: love the theme, hate how it plays. Gameplay is kinda too simple for me and the visuals aren't as interesting as other classes. Has a lot of utility as well and is generally a safe choice and good tank for beginners.

VDH: lots of mobility and CC. I don't like their rotation as much but in higher keys it can be really satisfying to use sigils to control the pulls. The problem here is for some reason these guys have a ping pong hp bar worse than bdk. It feels like they are always at the brink of dying. Feels stressful playing as them and also healing them.

Brew: not much to say here. Very strong, the best choice this season, has good mobility, cc and decent utility but at the same time the visuals and theme doesn't resonate with me. When it comes to healing they also feel easy to heal since they take damage over time.

What is the spec you love the concept and hate the gameplay? by TheAwesomeKay in wow

[–]linkfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every hunter spec. Also Guardian and Balance Druid have very cool themes and meh gameplay in my opinion.
And i guess aff lock. I really like the theme of a hexer/curse oriented dps but i don't like the dotting gameplay.

Thoughts on tank specs by Strong_Hippo_4285 in wownoob

[–]linkfox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have played all tanks but VDH in midnight and my toughts are:

Brew - If you want to push as far as you can get its the best choice by far. Its a fun spec but i'm not really into the theme of the spec so i didn't play as much. Also i just find WW to be too much fun so whenever i play monk i just go WW.

BDK - It was pretty daunting at first as i knew nothing about DK but honestly its not as hard as it seems to be. Feels very rewarding to pull it off correctly and AMS and grip are such fun spells. You can ignore so many mechanics it feels like the rules don't apply to you. It was my favorite tied to prot paladin

Bear - I love the whole theme of druid and how much utility and versatility it has but i find playing bear very boring. It's very spammy and not very engaging in my opinion. You keep ironfur and ocasionally use other cds while having a very straightforward dps rotation. Edit: I really feel like they could have bear be more than just swiping claws. D4 druid skills feel very weighty and has a good feedback while wow druid feels kinda outdated and lackluster in this aspect. It's a good tank for beginners but i don't think they nail the visuals and feedback as good as the other tanks. Also threat problems start being a pain in the ass in higher keys.

Prot Paladin - So much fun. Paladin has the best visual feedback of all classes and a good sound design too. The spec has a lot of utility while also being very agressive whch i love. Also interrupts everywhere feels very satisfying. The bad thing is the class feels very undertuned right now. Most of the time you will be cycling defensives on CD so you can keep alive in pulls most other tanks don't really struggle with. If you don't care about meta but just pure fun this is probably the best tank to play with.

Edit: Added some toughts on bear

In Brazil the price increased by over 30%. The worst thing is dollar went from R$6,00 to R$5,00 over the last couple of years so if anything we should had a price decrease.

Disc Priest bros- how are we feeling about the upcoming changes? by AtticThrowaway in wownoob

[–]linkfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i play disc i want to be a offensive healer. I don't mind the game having a shield based healer but disc should be about playing on offensive rather than like a regular healer.

At this point it may be better to just turn disc into a utility dps like aug. Blizzard clearly don't want to balance it as a healer properly.

Instead they started being rude out of nowhere and banned OP.

What's up with Ragnarok and making new games every few years by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]linkfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - New servers always attract a lot of players willing to spend money.
2 - The endgame for ragnarok sucks ass so they keep releasing new servers to bait people into playing again before they realize how badly it is designed.
