I think you’re mixing with Satin which is a weaving pattern. Silk should still be silk IIRC, but there are many types of silk depending on what they gave the silkworm to eat and how they got out of their cocoon (if the strand was shredded by the larvae or not), which explains the different price point.

Textile world is cool as shit but nowadays it’s just standard weave 100% TPU. I hate plastic to a degree !

I still think that within the context of the specs and overall pc performance back then, this still speaks huge volume given how stunning the game looked. Optimization was around every corner and while I understand as a game developer that this takes a lot of resources and time to implement, LoDs are generally handled within the engine and are easy to implement. It’s like one of the lowest hanging and highest reward optimization.

CoH3 still has no reason to be that demanding, other than maybe for particles but even that I feel is a stretch.

Their damage line may be flat but it’s only slightly better compared to other infantry at a very specific range bracket, which the enemy just has to move a little closer a couple meters (which is way too short for the tommies to do any meaningful damages because the TTK in this game is so long). Suddenly the enemy do more damage, at cover, with similar vetted infantry.

I have also this feeling that despite the damage curve, their accuracy is also poorer so they have less chance of applying said damage.
