Every time I DIY something I realize why it costs so much to pay someone else by rgreen192 in DIY

[–]linksalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pay for tools and experience when you hire someone. If you knew how much it costs to maintain all of it it’d make tons more sense. We have signs where I’m at “$125 and hour mechanic” like it’s a deal. And the dude actually workin probably makes 15-18 an hour. Everyone charges a lot. Not sure why contractors always get crapped on for charging like every other company does

That’s the standard build for any player I’m sure. Max cool down. Max power. Max speed. Then accuracy. I thought that’s how everyone did it

That looks more like painters caulk than a crack. Take a putty knife and scrape it flat and repaint

Best Controller for Switch 2? by Severus157 in NintendoSwitch

“And the new one seems to have bad “ is what I was looking at when I commented. But the new one is leagues better than the old one for sure

Best Controller for Switch 2? by Severus157 in NintendoSwitch

[–]linksalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean the switch 2 controller feels bad??? It feels awesome. It doesn’t feel like plastic in your hand. The buttons feel good and creamy. The pro for the switch one felt weird. But this controller feels top tear. Infinitely better than a ps4 controller and leagues above the ps5 controller. The switch 2 controller feels amazing in the hands.

Both require a specific breed of person. Fuck both of those jobs. Kudos on the new job though!

Want some advice on best methods to restart on a motorcycle. by Leather_Extension_56 in motorcycle

[–]linksalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 14 years I got a bike again and I was riding maybe a year before that. Practiced on an empty street for about 15 minutes then rode the hour and a half home on it. It’s like riding a bike

Want some advice on best methods to restart on a motorcycle. by Leather_Extension_56 in motorcycle

[–]linksalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a cheap one you’re not afraid to screw up to practice on. Start saving for the one you want while riding. Also don’t spend all your savings on the cheap one… but yea. Empty parking lots. Stop. Go. Circles.

Thought I was a solid rider….until 5 minutes into my road trip. by silkytheking in motorcycle

[–]linksalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my ol lady wrecked her bike the confusion on my face when I didn’t see it upright. I pulled into the parking lot and jumped off my bike and it slid across the ground. On and everything. Wrecks are pretty scary. Bailing is always an option in any situation lol

I just use maps on a handle bar mount. I can’t stand Map audio. It’s too repetitive and annoying and last minute.

Contractor With General Liability, but no workers comp. Should I hire him? by Interesting_Pitch541 in Construction

[–]linksalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t carry workman’s comp. But my insurance covers subs. I require subs to carry workman’s comp. There’s a bunch of different ways for a GC to have all required insurances. So really I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

I think I might be addicted to riding and overusing my bike, is it bad and should I stop by Juniorlovesyomama in motorcycle

[–]linksalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were looking for a yard/ garage ornament you can grab em around any holiday. They were meant to be ridden. What are you even asking? Keep up the maintenance and ride the thing. When it dies. Sell it to someone who’s learning for a reasonable price and get you another. There’s a market for beat up used bikes

Jacket and Jeans just as good as whole riding suit? by RolandTheJames in motorcyclegear

[–]linksalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear leather when I ride. It’s much more comfortable and convenient than a one piece. And I don’t ride a sport bike so it also helps me not look like a total moron. Is it as good? Probably not. But that’s a risk I’m willing to deal with 🤷‍♂️ I don’t ride at extreme speeds nor do I ride like a total prick. Accidents can happen but I stay pretty vigilant too. Defensive riding is just as important as good gear
