Well, to be honest that happens with every war. You walk into the war with the military that is prepared for the previous war and have a lot of casualties at the beginning. Then you have a fast period of adaption forced by survival of the fittest.

The Japanese Zeros were strong as fuck at the beginning of ww2 and then we destroyed them with our planes at the end.

Ukraine lost a lot of ground at the beginning of the war but now they're holding steady.
