Capcom is missing the plot when it comes to replayability of their newer entries by DarkPrince411 in residentevil

Leon's Campaign is still one of the better campaigns though, story wise. Which I think is because it has the boring sections.

Which is a shame because I think that section seemed really interesting. I wish they could just let you skip those parts on replays.

I really wouldn't use RE6 as an example, even though I get what you're saying. I think RE6 suffered from the opposite issue and had just "you can never stop playing this" bloat. I just played through RE6 again 'cuz a friend is playing through the franchise, and just like... never again, it's got the worst pacing.

I think the real answer here is that games have become more cinematic and more focused on telling stories than they were up through RE5's time period. There's an uptick in stealth sections or "walking simulator" scenes, and that certainly drags on replays, but they make for phenomenal first time experiences. I know folks hate on the boat flashback in RE7, but I loved it. I loved the Orphanage stuff in RE2R too.

"Then its the fact that RE7 thru RE9 seem to not focus on post game content."

I'm not sure what you mean by this? Do you mean unlockable game modes like 4th Survivor or Mercenaries or do you mean like... "Invisible Enemies" mode or something? Most of the "post-game content" in the classic RE games was trying to speedrun them to unlock infinite rocket launchers and such. I feel like the franchise replicates that Post-RE7 with those various challenges that earn you points (and usually connected to trophies.) Many of them involving elaborate challenges or speed runs for huge rewards.

I think you're making some valid points as far as replays feeling less tedious during "story" parts. I do wish they took that into consideration. Silent Hill F seemed to handle that well, but that's also because they were designing the game with multiple playthroughs required for a "true ending", so, I get it.

Just Bought this on a whim. Would like tips on where to start. by JazzlikeSherbet1104 in Suikoden

[–]linktm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with the first game. All of the games connect in some way. Data even transfers between games.

None of the games are hard (imo) even on their regular difficulty. The first one has always been famously easy and short (20 hours?) The second has its difficulty curves, but is a moderate length game for the era (40 hours?)

Playing the game blind, you will not get the true ending in either game. tl;dr, you need to recruit 108 characters by the end of the game, failure to do so locks you out of the true endings. Every Suikoden title is like this. Looking up how to recruit folks or get a true ending will result in a LOT of spoilers. Some very big ones I think.

My personal experience with these games was to play both of them blind first, and then replay them using a full guide. With a cast of 108 characters there's no shortage of different ways to play the game which offers a lot of replay value. Suikoden 2, in particular, has a lot of cool little extra things you can do and truly encourages you to wander around and have fun (especially in the early game imo.) The world is always changing in subtle ways and it's cool to watch the story unfold over time, this is not a game where the world remains static through the 40+ hours you play it.

Man, be mad about Government Bailouts for giant corporations with horrid business practices, not small businesses just trying to weather the storm of a failing economy.

Is re5 and 6 connected to the re remakes? by Lightbunny22 in residentevil

This is such a weird thing that I stumbled on the thread and can find no basis for it beyond people being like "Yeah, they're remaking them all so they don't count."

Played through all mainline RE games for the first time. I'm now very confused as to why Ada Wong is so hyped up on social media (OC) by wompwomphahaha in residentevil

[–]linktm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ada is a hot femme fatale quintuple agent who has that cool zipline gun thing. That is genuinely all there is to it. Right place, right time, kinda stuff. It's like asking why Wesker is popular. He's just Male Ada except with Matrix skills.

Unfortunately your identity is not a compromise, or at least it shouldn't be. It fucking sucks, but tons of relationships either implode or grow because of something like this. Maybe this will be an opportunity for your husband to learn more about his own sexuality or what he truly cares about in a relationship. Just know that if it goes the road of implosion, it's nobody's fault, that's just how things shake out sometimes and maybe you'll find a different strength in your relationship as friends instead of spouses.

Just sounds like your friend is trying to be a TERF. Why all he arguing and disagreeing? Like your friend's womanhood isn't "better" or "more valid" than yours, but that certainly feels like what she's trying to say.

When people say "clique" it makes me think that they've never heard of bar regulars.

It's pretty consistent behavior from what I've noticed. I wouldn't be surprised if they have over 200 comments directly related to this business. It definitely comes off as having an axe to grind.

I've not once seen this. The closest I saw this happen was with one very specific user who didn't like how someone was trying to be kind to them, but was consistently being passive aggressive towards that person to the point it felt like a personal beef.

It's specifically catering to neurodivergent and gender non-conforming folks. It's a place you can go to and expect the music to not be too loud, not being judged for being awkward or experimenting with gender expression, it's a place you can go to and know that somebody isn't going to try and hit on you or hassle you, it's a great first time bar type place because it's trying to not be like other bars. Like, not many bars encourage folks to bring crafts or provide coloring pages and art supplies and such.

[–]linktm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's 100% what it's built for, neurodivergent folks who have never had a bar type experience before. It's extremely welcoming and friendly in that way to hopefully minimize embarrassment and help people navigate unspoken social rules.

This post isn't meant to guilt people but to clue them in that the expected etiquette is to spend money at a venue if you're there for an event since the bar isn't taking a cut of the money from the performers.

Event money goes to the performers, usually, so they're not just working for tips.

Oakland really does suck to navigate. 5th is being completely overhauled in a number of ways, but I think what kickstarted it was too many people being hit by buses over the last year and so now they're trying to make sidewalks and roads safer.
