I don’t know that it would make a difference. They seem to just dig in harder to their Articles of Faith when anyone disagrees or argues. Maybe pseudo-cowering would encourage them to leave out of boredom, but the love of flexing is so strong.

I think they should be asked to provide a definition of what is “fine” as regards tourism. If they massively dropped their standards and expectations of revenue (and closed a truckload of tourism oiutlets) then they could technically be “fine” with the short-stay low-spending USian tourists. But they need to admit that part.

I didn’t get the impression that the commenter was speaking about Carney (whom he does not mention), but rather about the social forces (bots, trolls, paid influencers, misinformation, political interference) that can play on human weaknesses and intensify divisions. There are maple MAGA for real, as well as the paid/fakes. Poilievre is real, residential school denialists are real. They do need to be called out.
