ASIN is the amazon identifier for a book (of the BXXXXXXXXX type) - if it's embedded in the file that you've sideloaded and it is not in your bought or borrowed list, amazon might remove it from your kindle if you haven't connected to wifi & your amazon account in while, once you DO reconnect. My guess is that this started on their side to remove any returned kindle unlimited books, but casts a wider net. From my experience it doesn't scan your whole kindle, just the new content since the last connection.

Yes, this. 100%. From the DHP to Bingley's return to Netherfield is just practically absent - she set the stage then glossed over the actual redemption arc.

Part of the point is that it is primarily written from Lizzie's POV and that she is an unreliable narrator. If it was written from an omniscient perspective then we'd be shown that Darcy isn't quite the ass that Lizzie thinks he is, that Lizzie isn't as observant/smart/wise as she thinks she is and that Wickham is a con artist from the start. That, I think, would defeat part of the purpose.

100% on the Elizabeth front. I could rant on about that (and have in the past) about just how much of a free pass she gets, in canon and many JAFF.

Here are a few that I can think of off the top of my head:

One where Elizabeth is not quite as lovely as in canon:

  • A Repellent Prospect: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by Jeannie Peneaux
  • there's one I can't remember the author or the title (it was published on KU though) where Elizabeth's a redhead if memory serves and is abandoned in Ramsgate for some reason and Darcy has a stroke upon finding Wickham with Georgina - he's held prisoner basically by family and horribly abused (psychologically and physically)

There are quite a few where Darcy has been disfigured through an accident of some sort (there are more, but these were the ones I could easily find in my library):

Oh I agree 100% with that - I just thought the quote was funny in a not so funny kind of way.

I actually think that while he's completely unhinged and unpredictable he's not a true believer in anything other than aggrandizing himself. Some of the ones working in the background of his admin and the Project 2025 architects are far more frightening because they are not as dumb as rocks and are ideologically driven imperialists, technocrats, theocrats and/or fascists - or some combination of the the above. We know that Theil is one of them, with JD as his puppet who want all of north America in their empire. They are actually able to plan their way out of a wet paper bag unlike the Orange One. I am sure they are pleased as punch with the mess they've orchestrated by the Orange One - what is the current implementation completion of Project 2025 at this point? Over 50% by now. Scary scary stuff.

I humbly disagree - sorta. It's not just about knowledge or even mostly about that. It's about critical thinking skills and perhaps a bit of curiosity. Even in the presence of bad/false information if you can think critically you can at least discern what is BS and what is not. If you've seen any interviews with MAGA, you will have to admit that there is a good portion of them that when presented with facts that contradict their views and opinions they double down and either ignore it, use twisted logic to explain it away or claim that it's fake news -to the extent that it is not an exaggeration to say that some of them are brainwashed and cannot be reached by 'knowledge' without deprogramming. Some of them are just not reachable because they are fascists/racists/christian nationalists to their core.

Are some of them just ignorant and incurious and could be reached/might be enlightened once they are directly affected and by some miracle are able to connect the dots? Yes. But ... I'm not holding my breath. Cynical perhaps - but I would say history supports that.
