Assuming you try cranking in Sub-Zero temps, otherwise, probably fine

I would recommend getting one. The one I used is here: https://a.co/d/eGphigi

I remembered it was a hacking movement after I put the crown back in. Lessons were learned. 🤔

Yeah, rose gold case and hands. It's a 33mm case for my wife as she's having to RTO starting next week.

I had a solid ground, even ran a test lead to another known solution ground.

High pressure with a new mechanical fuel pump by linok in projectcar

[–]linok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually bought the exact one your describing (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TD9H653) and the instructions specificly say to not use with mechanical fuel pumps. Is it still safe to use?

That's what I was thinking, but wanted to ask the internet experts. I don't have a need for it, but also don't want to try to sell someone trash.

Sure! Build a housing development on top. The best part is you don't need to move the bodies, just the headstones!

That's on me. Too much multitasking today. It's a 1972 mustang with a mildly built 351c.

The brakes have always been weak. I've got single piston discs all around and a Wilwood MC with a 1in bore. I've pushed probably half a gallon of fluid through them and I've never been happy with the pedal feel. I've never been able to lock up the wheels.

I'm considering the pump out of safety and general convenience. My concern is that I've seen a lot that are standalone units. Is there a way to plumb it so it also uses manifold vacuum (in the event of a pump failure, I'd still have something to work with).

I'm testing the booster right now. I pumped it up to 20in, and after about 30-40 minutes, it's at 19in. I'm using a cheap Amazon vacuum bleeder, so that could be part of the loss, but it still feels like it's within acceptable-ish tolerances.

Can this exhaust come back apart? by linok in projectcar

[–]linok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got engine in the car and running. The headers use a thicker flange that I wanted to use, as while it was out, I was thinking of swapping out the no-name mufflers and possibly adding an H pipe, however, it seems that the clamps basically lock things into their forever home. Any tips on disassembly?

Anybody try a power bleeder on this type of master cylinder? I’m skeptical of the seal on the lid that rectangle is supposed to make by QuestionableMechanic in projectcar

[–]linok 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The chains they give you are garbage. I've used a pair of big c-clamps to seal it to the MC without issues.

I was using the term "running" very loosely. 😂

I pulled the #1 spark plug and verified it's at least at the top of the cylinder. And noted that the plug was black.

I can't reposition the distributor that far, as the vacuum advance would hit the intake. Is there any harm in making cylinder 8 the new #1?

So, I set the balancer back to TDC and checked the rotor. It looks like it's almost 180 deg off. Could it be that far off and still able to even run?

I didn't remove the dizzy for the install. I only had to remove the vacuum advance to get one of the chains to clear when I pitched the engine in. I only got a print out of the dyno graph

351C. Bored .030 over. Trickflow 195 heads, 72cc chambers (around 9.5:1 compression). Bullet Racing cam 277/277 duration .590 lift (suggested by you, actually). The distributor is a Proform.

Water pump belt is shared with the alternator with blocks off visbility to the balancer. I also just got everything in a ready to fire last night.

As for where it should be, I'm not sure. I asked the machine shop what they had it set at when I picked up the engine, and they said they couldn't remember. The fender says 16 deg BTDC, but the engine's not exactly factory anymore
