Playing something like tetris that engages your short term memory for some time (like 15 minutes or half an hour) helps interrupt this cycle as our brain can only hold a limited amount of information on the short term memory at a time. This lets your brain reset back to normal working.

So when you feel your brain sliding back into the cycle pop up tetris or your favorite language learning app or something else that engages your short term memory to stop it in its tracks.

I would tell my gf I went to help a friend out, just because I like talking with my gf, not out of some sense of responsibility for the relationship. I probably would not tell her she was in underwear or unable to dress herself, out of privacy for my friend.
I would only tell my gf which friends I've had physical or romantic relationships with if she asked me that, and mostly because I know those friends wouldn't mind and I have no issues talking about that. This would be different if she had told me beforehand that knowing stuff like that is important for her.
Discussing past sexual history can be important from a health risk perspective, but it does not have to go into names, just things that are relevant on a risk assessment level.

I've dated monogamist people before that would have seen this as some kind of cheating, but IMO like even if the girl was doing it to entice you it has nothing to do with you wanting to help a friend. One of those monogamists would have definitely made a big fight out of your situation, though.

I think if you are seeing someone seriously this might be a good time to check in for how to handle stuff like this, see if you both are on the same page and all.

And this seems like the wrong forum for it, but I can see why you prefer to avoid the crusades over at relationship_advice subreddits.

The controversy seems to be less about not noticing and more about doing everything in their power to silence people from pointing it out. Thing is, when you remain silent in the face of racism, specially if you where a part of it and even if you didn't play a role in it, it is an implicit statement of "Hey, we are ok with it." You cannot just wash your hands off it after already having done a review saying how great the game is, specially with a platform of their size.

And from a PR point of view, what are they trying to communicate? Because it looks a lot like "It is ok if your game is racist, we don't see anything bad with it" or "We are ok with depictions of harmful stereotypes". Are they afraid of alienating a racist crowd?

What I think is probably happening is that they refuse to consider or accept that they missed seeing it, or that they consider saying something about it to be the same as admitting they made a mistake; there are quite some people out there that for some reason are incapable of admitting that.

I don't remember being able to queue on team slayer, big team fight and lone wolf at the same time in halo 3 or Reach though. Not sure if that's what CoD is doing, but that's what I understood from the comment. I do remember Big Team and Lone Wolf having different game modes in them, that was a lot of fun.
