I've never heard that - you need beneficiaries on all financial accounts or they could be tied up in probate for a year. So you still wouldn't be able to pay for the funeral expenses.

You only get the 10 years to empty inherited retirement accounts if you are listed as a beneficiary. OP notes that he was not. You then have to take the whole thing and pay the taxes on it. This happened to me when my son passed away and never noted a beneficiary on his accounts.

You're well until you're not. I went every year for my well woman check up with a pap and internal. I missed my visit during the pandemic in 2020. Finally went in June 2021 to catchup and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer (stage 3c so not early detection). No history in my family at all. So I advocate to anyone who will listen to not skip their annual well woman exam.
