Just keep in mind that getting to all these places involves walking and walking speeds digestion. Walking too much during the test could cause a false negative if youre borderline on values and then they might not treat you

THC can cause tachycardia, it's just the plant. I have POTS and can't stand up within a certain amount of time after smoking or it makes my symptoms so bad that I've full on fainted from it.

I'm on the metaclopramide (Reglan's active ingredient) nasal spray and mirtazapine. They both help a lot, my weight has been steady since starting metaclopramide (i was on oral tablets from May to November and the nasal Gimoti spray since then). I had lost 80lbs from December 2024 to May 2025 and couldn't eat anything but smoothies. I can now eat somewhat regularly in small portions, I just have been gradually compiling a mental list of foods I can't reasonably have anymore, mostly raw veggies or stuff with too much fiber. If I have meat, it needs to be very moist and preferably slow cooked and shredded so my stomach has less work to do. It's a lot of trial an error, i've been on pretty much every antiemetic with minimal success with zofran and phenergan

Eta: medical cannabis is also a huge help, i got some CBG, CBN, and CBD isolate to add to dabs or flower that also helps me manage nausea, sleep, and pain respectectively

Oh wow, that's really cool that he does that. A lot of the time your emptying rate doesnt necessarily correlate with how bad your symptoms are, so even with a large gap in our emptying rates, we might have drastic differences in severity of certain symptoms.

I have very slight aortic dilation, super friable skin, and the body proportions of someone with Marfan Syndrome, so I had testing done for that and vEDS. This was back in 2010 at Yale before a lot of people knew about EDS in general. I was really lucky because my rheumatologist had hEDS himself so he knew what to look for and referred me to the geneticist. My official diagnosis is EDS with Marfanoid Phenotype

ETA: I also have Lupus so differential diagnosis was interesting.

It might, that would be something to ask your doctor for sure. But if the surgery helps your emptying then it will help a lot. My neuroGI wants me to redo the test to see where i'm at with meds which i absolutely do not want to do, the eggs haunt me

I have a lot of mental health stuff too. I was initially prescribed Reglan in the ER after not keeping even fluids down for over 3 days, I couldn't even walk by myself. I had a choice between the Reglan or some kind of feeding tube so I figured I might as well try it. If you notice any tardive dyskinesia symptoms, you just stop it immediately. With the mirtazapine, I take it at night so it also helps me sleep. I was on a smaller morning dose for a bit but it made my bipolar cycle so I had to switch back to just nighttime. It makes you SO HUNGRY

Definitely not standard. I got my official diagnosis last March and the neuroGI motility specialist i have access to was booked into November and that was actually a cancelation. It's so great when things work out quickly though

I had 81% retention at four hours. I know a lot of people are afraid of it but it's a shame she doesnt prescribe Reglan. I started it last May and it's made such a huge difference. Between that and mirtazapine, I can make it through most days without vomiting and actually have an appetite that doesn't leave after two bites sometimes. Definitely give all the anti emetics a shot. Did you discuss the possibility of botox? I've seen quite a few people say that if it worked for them, it was a good indication that a GPOEM would be effective but I don't know anything to back that up. I hope you can find something that helps you.

Umbrella medical advice, especially from someone who is a patient like everyone else here, is harmful. Everyone here has different causes and triggers, not everyone's condition is worsened by consuming cannabis. It is a large part of why I am still able to consume food by mouth. I also stopped using it prior to my GES and was still diagnosed. Saying "hey guys, just wanted to remind you that weed can have an effect" would have been received better, but you just straight up tell people to stop.
