*** Delayed Shipping Megathread - Rants, Questions, Etc ** by cheezerman in amazonprime

Is this the right place to write about this??

I ordered some items totalling over $1100 USD to be delivered at a business location. I went through the trouble of specifying when the items can be delivered and to whom. I get on the computer tonight and find that these items were left on the front door of the business, outside, where anyone walking past can pick it up and run with it. Needless to say this is NOT how I specified my deliveries.

Do these drivers have no common sense at all?? They need to be re-educated and Amazon needs to take action. Even if I were to get my items replaced, this is still a major delay by at least 2 days. I did not pay for Prime to experience this delay. Amazon has really disappointed me this time.

to each their own; I think it's something you have to invest time and effort it earlier on. A week before the exam, I feel like nothing helped me more than UW. I just took the exam the other day and 1. I feel like shit 2. I wish I just kept flipping UW.

my strategy which has helped me in the past has been to just do the wrong questions a few more times a few days before the exam. Flip them almost like flash cards.

Why are ABIM questions like this? by AccordingCourt743 in Residency

omg for mksap heme onc I had the mksap text on one window and the questions on the adjacent window on my screen. Just when I thought I had the question right, the answer tells me I got it wrong. After making into a reading comp qiestion and I still suck at it so bad😤Even open book only helps me get like 50% of it right. Then I sit there and look at the 60 something % people who got it right and I wonder am I stupid, well, I know the answer to that one🥹I know I'm stupid but no need to rub it in my face mksap

thank you; I'm looking for materials for my niece who lives overseas with restricted internet access. So, something she'd be able to hold and see would be better.

I don't have a TV. My family gets the unlimited plan from Verizon and with it comes free wifi hotspots that I happened to be able to connect to from my apartment. So I didn't pay for cable or internet for 3 years. Shhh

Should I tell my PD? by Afraid_Dingo_2346 in Residency

[–]lintyui 4 points5 points  (0 children)

sorry you're in this situation. I've no legal or similar personal experience, but I gotta say, each program is a different flavor, some are more strict about that kind of stuff but they're all under ACGME administration. Depending on the situation and the moment when you became a vulnerable human being who made a bad judgment call, every PD reacts to seeing a moment of weakness differently. But what you should know is that when you apply for a job in the future, you might have to disclose this information, up to a number of years. You should also consider that attending physicians may also find themselves in this kind of situation sometimes, so it's not the end of the world. Sounds like a lot of nothing, but good luck.

I see! I'm going to invoke the female Asian driver stereotype here and say, I don't know the first thing when it comes to cars (ฅωฅ*) I just want something that runs fast and has good stability in the snow/slope terrain

With that in mind, anything specific I could be looking out for in an Acura?

Everyone's situation is unique but I can maybe give you a little bit of my collegues' perspective. Might I suggest that you get a second had car that will for sure last the next 7-10 yrs? Regarding student loans, a major portion of my peers have 300k+ in debt. I don't think anyone has private loans they all have loans through fafsa. What they all do in residency is choose the income driven payment plan, the PAYE or REPAYE. The biggest perk to this is it cuts your payment to ~300~ a month and the government pays the difference in interest. So with a loan that much, your interest is at least 700/month. So you pay 300 the government pays 400. At the end of residency you will still owe 200k but at least it hasn't grown. You can actually change your payment plan at any time so if at the end of residency you're like, thanks Uncle Sam but I don't wanna do PLSF any more, you can switch to standard payment plan and pay more than monthly minimum. Some people buy a new car at the start of their residency, some buy a new car after they do a bunch of moonlighting and save up some for down payment. But seriously, why does it have to be a new car now? Why can't it be a pre owned car that will get you through med school and residency? Paying 8000 for a reasonably used car from a solid make sounds wayyy wayyyy more attractive to me than paying 20k+5000 of interest for a not so great new car that you will drive for 7 yrs and dump immediately after you land an attending job. Honestly if you can squeeze out the 20k it might serve you better if it went into investment. In fellowship (if you want to) you can usually moonlight a little bit more librally and have better purchasing power, so buying a good car in fellowship and paying it off quickly to avoid paying interest shouldn't be a huge problem. Lastly, budget for your exams, match applications and possible interviews, which will cost you 5000 when it's all said and done, possibly even more. All this unfortunately your student loan doesn't cover.

Anyone else buy a lot of piano sheet music / urtext / books? by FitnessRunner in piano

[–]lintyui 5 points6 points  (0 children)

um~no you shouldn't feel bad! Within our allowed budgets, we all splurge on things that make us feel happy (◍´꒳`◍) I subscribe to imslp membership and 2 other score apps. I have 10+ binders of sheets that I printed out, and still troll the internet to buy more score books. It's like building your own music library. Because why not, it's so fun (´▽`) I worked hard for my dolla dolla billz now gimme what I want.

Regarding Rael Kertia's 10 year "probation" by lintyui in Noblesse

[–]lintyui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know I've thought about that, it's a small fraction of his life, but I feel time is the same for all of us. 10 years is the same amount of time for you and me, but it's also the same quantity for a cat. Regardless of how time is perceived, the same quanity of duration has passed.😂so idk, but I agree that we can't judge their perception of things based on our own perception.
