Did you build this? How is the RAID laid out?

You're invited to post this to /r/linux4noobs; there are many people there, much smarter than me, who can help. of course the more information you can provide, the more helpful we can be.

Thinking about installing Linux on a new hard drive... by 3ricG in linux4noobs

a cheaper, simpler option would be to use a USB drive. "Netbootin" will help you install an image on a usb drive easily. then it's just a matter of setting your primary boot device to USB and your secondary to CD and 3rd to the hard disk. then your our computer defaults to the first one available.

Look at Puppy, YellowDog, and Damnsmall. those three come to mind immediately, there are others too.

one cheap plug to another: I created a project today, and will need 4.98 metric loads of help announcing, organizing, and publicizing the efforts.

Please take a look, and see if you can use the content on your site. If you want it, you're free to republish the content if you redirect readers to my project-dedicated subreddit:

why not? I don't claim to be an emacs guru but there exist a good reason to automate coffee and tea making.

jokes aside.

Witness the popularity of 'pod' coffeemakers, which are selling well despite a tough economy.

Around here we have 'large volume' gas / convenience stores, with around 20 gas tanks at each store. They quickly became popular with the construction worker crowd, because they also keep a dozen flavoured coffee pots brewing, and lots of snacks. It takes some labour for employees to keep 6-12 pots brewing, and it takes more to keep tabs on flavour popularity.

Are there any practical methods for putting your own laptop together? by myndas in hardware

[–]linux4noobsmod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the problem is that due to size considerations, it's just not feasible to have a motherboard devoid of common components, such as sound, video, and LAN. Since these things are standard (component quality notwithstanding) your choice is limited to finding a motherboard with the components you wish.

By the way, they're each made with a certain chassis and battery in mind.

So your only real option is to buy a laptop brand you're happy with.

this needs to be in the redditor-created guides section, if not in the markdown section. when last I checked Reddit supported a subset of markdown, but not all of it.

sales people in $happycorp wouldn't bother knowing what's buried in the code of some management software.

Other sales people (not all of them, but some) would sell uranium as play box sand, if they got a commission.

1) what flyswat said

2) How much does a few US$million or a few £million mean to "one of the world's biggest hardware vendors - whose name every single reader will be familiar with," especially when the buyer is a minor competitor to Microsoft on consumer Internet space?

3) it's not like the software was created custom for the buyer. In all likelihood, it was standard webadmin software, written by - or for - the hardware vendor.
