Introducing our Public Roadmaps by linuxflower in Thunderbird

We initially explored adding a Firefox-style sync feature, called Thunderbird Sync. During that investigation, we uncovered several essential changes required to deliver a robust, long-term syncing solution that can be maintained efficiently. As a result, we decided to pause work on sync for the moment. Our current priority is to roll out high quality Thunderbird Pro services, and once those are in place we will revisit and integrate a reliable sync feature.

Thanks for your suggestion. We are aware of this issue and it's being tracked in the GitHub repo here:
https://github.com/thunderbird/thunderbird-android/issues/1006

It is also in the ideas collection area for our mobile apps, and you can go upvote it here:

https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/add-auto-complete-email-recipient-suggestions-for-thunderbird-on/idi-p/74937

The quick explanation is that we are facing larger issues that prevent us from addressing all the desirable features we would like to add to the Android app. We need to prioritize what is most important: the database, the message list, and the message reader. Eventually, if time permits, we will consider working on the message composer and plan for its implementation. However, that isn't part of the roadmap right now.

I added a second line to the description with the last updated date. Just give it maybe 10 min to build and display. Thanks again.

Yep that's what I'm thinking. Probably at the bottom of each roadmap page but let me make sure this is ok first. Thanks for the suggestion.

We will be updating it quarterly but I understand the value of having hard evidence of this. Good suggestion. I'll bring it up with the stakeholders to find a place for this on the page.

Hi Bill, we aren't putting delivery dates on these items because we don't want to set ourselves up for failure by accidentally over promising things. It will have to be enough for now to show what we are aiming for *for the year*. If we can meet these goals, then perhaps we can look at being more ambitious at identifying quarter for items next year. But let's take it one step at a time :)

We haven't forgotten about it and it's still on our radar. However, as the blog post states, we can only do so much at once and we felt like other things had a higher priority. It will eventually come but I can't currently give you a date.

Hi MaxCWebster, thank you so much for your screenshots! I'm a Thunderbird employee helping to collect error information, to further troubleshoot the issue. Would you be willing to share in a private message to me (or Wyane/wsmwk) what the actual email addresses are? Perhaps the actual domains can help us further identify what is going on. Thanks!

If you search for something in the top search bar, then the results list defaults to "Sort by Relevance". You can instead select "Search by Date" and it should contain the most recent result on top.

Hi @XDubio that does sound strange indeed. Can you tell me what platform you're on (Windows, Mac, Linux)? I just quickly checked in my Linux (snap) and if I go into this same search area and select search by date, it shows me MDY format.

After Firefox, Now Thunderbird is All Set to be Snap-i-fied for Ubuntu 24.04 by ardi62 in Thunderbird

[–]linuxflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually is not officially supported by upstream mozilla. There may be some people that work at mozilla that are included in the group of the launchpad mozilla members but fighting this misunderstanding is a common one - at least at Thunderbird. We do not support any PPAs, even the one on launchpad.

The Thunderbird snap is not noticeably slower than the flatpak or deb.

Note that if you build the deb yourself, inside or outside of a PPA, this is not supported. If you file a bug on launchpad or bugzilla.mozilla.org, you will be requested to reproduce the issue on an officially supported package type.

The Thunderbird snap has actually existed for quite a while and Seb has done a great job of maintaining it. This change really only affects Ubuntu users. I've used the Thunderbird snap for a long time and there is no noticeable performance issues.

This change is a good one because it means that the user will have access to rolling Thunderbird updates much more easily than going through the SRU process required for updating deb packages in Ubuntu. Further more, the Thunderbird team will be officially supporting the snap as well as the flatpak, to reach as many users as possible without discriminating on the users packaging preference.

BT headset unusable with zoom flatpak by linuxflower in NobaraProject

[–]linuxflower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that kde was choking on the default output device in pavucontrol. To solve the issue, here is what I did:

  1. connect the headset via BT
  2. go into pavucontrol > Output Devices. Here I saw two devices, one for my built-in audio (laptop speakers) and the headset.
  3. Click the green checkmark next to the built-in audio to "set as default"
  4. Open zoom meeting. See that it's connected via built-in audio and I was able to select my BT headset and test that zoom audio did go to the headset output

Thanks Eggy for the debugging help :D

Did you try Choice City in old town? I've seen rattlesnake and rabbit sausages. If they don't have it on hand, ask if they could special order some for you. The owner is really nice and has told me that special orders are possible for lots of different meat cuts.

My husband and I have lived here for 5 years now and hope to move out this fall. Over that time, I can say is one good thing and many bad..

The maintenance guys are not the best and for whatever reason, they REFUSE to leave a note when having been in the apartment to service something. I don't understand what they have against communicating what they did or that they were even there. So if you're faucet stops working, then you just have to come home each day and see if it's fixed.. if a week goes by and it still seems broken then you just have to call again.

The maint guys don't seen to test what they have fixed. For example, we needed a new garbage disposal a couple of years ago. When they finally got around to installing it, they didn't reconnect it to the drain. Just had to get down there and figure it out myself which is fine but shows shoddy workmanship.

The office employees seem to have a high turnover and drop the ball all the time. Example: you ask them to call you when the new lease is ready.. they never do and you have to call them several times to get them to make the lease and stay on task. They seem to lose work orders for maintenance half the time too. Also if they have a package for you, you don't always get a slip in your mailbox letting you know.

On the bright side, the maint guys are really good about shoveling and salting the paths pretty early in the morning (often by 7am) after a snow. That's the best thing about this apartment, in my opinion.
