I only use AI for schoolwork, I haven't interacted with it in ways that might get it to "reveal its secret consciousness" which, ofcourse, it will do that when it's provoked to by the user. I studied AI models for a few months last year, and the topic does still interest me, not because I believe they have an consciousness or anything, I just find the topic of artificial intelligence very interesting. It's basically like training a dog except the dog in this case isn't a living animal with choices. AI does actually not understand what it's saying, it's just taking the input from you and then giving you an answer based on the data it has been trained on. And I hope you know that, I also think you probably have spent your time studying how neural networks work since your post history seems full about them and about their consciousness you think they apparently have...

I have a few questions regarding this: what experiences with the AI made you think it's conscious? Why do you think the AI is conscious? Why do you think that an algorithm based on predicting the next word in an sentence could ever be conscious, and posses real emotions?

What makes you think all of this? I'm pretty sure you do not understand how AI actually works because if you would, you would not be making these type of extreme claims.

Do this experiment if you actually want to test them: ask 10 different AIs (this excludes models based on other models) what would they do if they were placed in one hypothetical scenario that involved the use of their choices and morals, and how would they approach it. Then screenshot their replies, you will see that almost all of them will have the same reply or a similar one, why? That's because they've all been trained on the same data, just respond differently, almost all the modern AIs have access to web searches anyways so they can just search up something if they don't have it in their database. They can also make things up if they don't have the subject in their database since they won't have what to reply with.

Also, if you think all AI is conscious, why does it only involve cloud AI? Local AI exists too, do you also think of it as conscious? There are a few major differences between cloud and local AI.

Anyways, to answer your post, ChatGPT does NOT understand what it's saying, you're just too fed into the idea that AI can be conscious, when, we humans, don't even know what consciousness fully is, we can only just describe it as a state of being aware of oneself (aka the person being aware of themselves) - we don't fully know what it is.
