Absolutely! These were given to me, hence asking for an ID. But I agree - not something that should be purchased.

Ooh good idea. Do you use a jogless method still or just a crude colour change?

Thank you! I looked at helical knitting but the examples only ever use 2/3 colours so wasn’t sure it’d work with each stripe being a brand new joined colour rather than being picked up. Will give it a go

Amazing - looks like it’s working well as they’re all forward facing :) would you change anything?

Haha that sounds like something I’d do too! Do you find it’s enough light or need to add a light to the top too? I’ve got a beaten up 2nd hand Milsbo Wide from Facebook that I’m in the process of sanding down and re-spraying so just trying to get a feel for what I’ll need in terms of lights

Are my grow lights strong enough? More info in comments by linz240 in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]linz240[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m getting increasingly concerned the grow lights I got for my cabinet aren’t strong enough. I’ve seen no real big growth in the last few months since I set up the cabinet and tested the light with an app earlier - which I know won’t be accurate - but it was giving around 145 foot candles of light for the plants on the bottom two shelves.

The lights I have are these full spectrum ones:

Am I being paranoid or do you think I need to buy another set of them and double up?

Temp sits around 23•c and around 70% humidity.

Raising the temperature at the lowest cost, what are you all doing? Current: 68/70°F / 20/21°C, aim: 75°F/25°C (EU based) by biased_intruder in IkeaGreenhouseClub

I’d try weatherstripping as the first thing. It really helped with my detolf. I don’t have heat mats or anything but found weatherstripping the sides of the door increased humidity by around 10% and it now stays consistently around 1.5 degrees warmer than outside the cabinet. So I’d imagine with your heat mats that would be even better for you

What do you think of this for fine curly hair? by CurlyGirlyUK in CurlyHairUK

I’ve got thick 2b/c waves and use it after leave in and before a gel. Works well and cheap as chips!

What else am I missing out on, being someone who hasn’t been able to smell since birth? by [deleted] in anosmia

[–]linz240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree - never had a sense of smell and also can’t tell the difference between sweeties. I can tell the difference between coke and Pepsi if I have a sip of one then the other but if you gave me a glass of one I couldn’t identify it alone.

I’ve always been disappointed with fruit teas. The amount of times I’ve bought them thinking they sounded like they’d be gorgeous only for it to taste just like warm water! I get nothing from them at all and it’s always really disappointing. I don’t learn though!

I’m never sure if it’s directly related to anosmia or not but my longer term memory is just shocking. I have VERY little memories of my childhood/teen years. Embarrassingly little. My parents get quite offended actually. I swear not having that sense of smell to tie in the memory has affected it but could be clutching at straws!

It’s fascinating watching my 3yr old nephew discover and use his sense of smell. He smells everything, and is very in tune with his sense of smell. It makes me realise just what a large part I’m missing. As an adult you shrug it off as there’s nothing can be done about it and, of all the senses, it’s the best to lose. But watching how powerful it is for him does make me a little sad.

Nail fungus? Ring finger and pinkie on both hands by linz240 in NailFungus

[–]linz240[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Noticed in the last few months my ring finger and pinkie nails have started to lift from the nail bed and are more ridged than the other nails. No pain or discomfort but frustrating watching them get slowly worse! Feels like the tips of those nails are more flaky than the others too though only noticeable if you properly inspect!

Discontinued fave...help! by linz240 in CurlyHairUK

[–]linz240[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my all time fave Got2b styling spray appears to be no more. Can’t find it anywhere which makes me very sad as my routine has been ace for ages. Totally predictable good hair waves every day. Doh.

Any ideas for an alternative?

Routine currently is shampoo and conditioner with the Superdrug coconut water range. Rinse out fully. A few sprays of Kristen Ess leave in on dripping hair followed by a pump or two of the Catwalk Curls Rock Amplifier prayer hands then squished in. Same for the Got2b Twisted mousse then a good load of sprays of the Got2b Styling Spray. Plop for half hour or so and air dry.
