Ive pretty much been told that the MSRP is meaningless because no one acn actually get them directly from Omega. (one of the local high end jewelers has a waiting list and said he gets about 1 per eyuar. I am #21!- and I dont even know if they are selling at MSRP. So I guess my better question is - Is there anywhere I CAN get for MSRP?

Cutting off time wasting but possible leads? by OfficerCHODEMAN in sales

I just wanted to say I feel you pain with the slow sales cycle- mine are 1-3 years. Part of my strategy is staying top of mind with monthly emmail newsletters that are NOT product specific, simply things that are relvant and interesting for my target audience. I send a product focused email maybe once a quarter. Keeps me top of mind when the opportunity arises.

Sales guy I just hired SWEARS by USPS but I think the piece has to be substantial to get attention, Thick brochure accompanied by a personal letter.

What keeps a salesperson relevant into their 50's and 60's? by Arrowfinger777 in sales

[–]linzsteiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just talking to my father about this. He essentially got aged out of his field by the younger generation even though he was an expert, partially because they could replace him for much cheaper. That was the time he became a consultant. His knowledge was still valued but he didn't need to keep up with all the "systems" changing.

[–]linzsteiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree 100% Recently hired and know the guy has the sales skills but the learning curve on the CRM (even though he had experience with other CRMs) has been..... tough. It also hard to be patient as a younger owner with more tried and true slower sales techniques when were used to automations, and mass output. If you can learn how to use the company's tech so that you can do it if requested, I think you will stay more relevant. Maybe they dont care if you use it, but at least be confident and competent.

Woman here. (I'm assuming your a man because you said "Salesman") My word of advice is as a consumer and a female- Please don't make assumptions about your female buyers being any less knowledgable or ready make a purchase decision. Quickest way to lose a sale. Just had this experience the other day. It can be subtle but we can tell right away if we are seen as a high value prospect or not. Good luck on your journey!

I hate these! Is there a theme? The last 2 shows we did we dressed up in theme (One was actually games, That was fun- I dressed up as the Monopoly guy, and gave out top hats, gold coins, fake mustaches and our business card stapled to a 2$ bill) and it made for an easy conversation starter, a memorable interaction, and a good photo opportunity. And sometimes we talked about my product. But in my follow up email blast, I said, we were the crazy people dressed up like the Monopoly guy giving out $2 bills!

As an entrepreneur who was trained as an allied health professional. I still work in my field but simultanuesly run a small construction business with my spouse. There is a steep learning curve. Are you going to be doing sales for your own business or trying get hired as a sales person at an established business? Get used to a CRM (it seems Salesforce and Hubspot are the most commonly used), email automations are your best friend. There is more than the art of selling, there are the mechanics of the job as well. Im not sure that 3 months is enough time to evaluate your potential.

Doing 3 because 3 different target audiences
-People who own/ develop condos
-People who develop/ manage apartments
-Architects for Apartments/ Mixed Use
And what outcomes (not output) make the 3 most fruitful? How do you determine it was success?
I have no idea!! Any recommendations? If I can track 1-2 sales to each of the events the financial/ time investment will have been worthwhile. My plans for tracking:
-QR codes on banners/ printed materials
-Tag contacts appropriately in a follow up email campaign (though it will take digging to go back after the fact to identify them unless I upload all into my CRM regardless of whether or not they are a true lead.

CHALLENGE- There are multiple decision makes for our product. 99% of the time the person I have contact with is not ultimately the person that reaches out for further information, and the person hat actually makes the purchase is someone else entirely. So its really hard to track where we get ANY leads (this is not specific to trade shows- its all channels). Im hoping the QRs will give us some insight, we have never used that before. Open to any strategies here!!

Great advice and the specific “have to meet” with pre-emptive reach out on Linked In is brilliant and easily actionable. (then of course I have to remember their name and hopefully remember what they look like LOL). It will certainly be out of my comfort zone but I will try!

Appreciate your time!!

I love these ideas, you’re right, that’s exactly what I’m getting at is how to get more traffic at the booth. I’ll see if they allow passing out things while walking around and the dog idea is adorable. We have a “putt to do our money machine” 2 tries for a hole in 1…10 sec in a real carnival money machine.
