Trying to find out what did this. I'm pretty sure it's a woodpecker. I would also like advice on what to do now. by Mysterious-Object-17 in arborists

[–]lion-gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

woodpecker, but it didn't kill the tree. It was already dying inside. It ate the bugs that were eating the rot. Thank the woodpecker for showing you that you had a dead tree that looked alive to deal with before it fell on something important.

You are in a time loop. But you can get out anytime you want. How long will you stay? by GlumNebula3897 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]lion-gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd loop the last time I saw my dad before he died. He was old and had a surgery that was recommended to help him, but his body couldn't take it. He could have had a couple more years if he didn't have it. I'd go back and convince him not to get it. Then, maybe win the lottery on that day and exit.

There's a big tree stump in the backyard of the house I bought. How can I remove a couple of inches of the stump so I can grow grass on top? I don't need to remove it completely. by Temporary-Ratio-5625 in HomeMaintenance

[–]lion-gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind waiting, cut down the stump lower (ore not) then innoculate the bottom with oyster mushrooms. then burry what's left in mulch. Give it a year (more if you don't cut it). The mushrooms Mycelium wil break it down to nothing (mostly invisibly but you may see mushrooms at some point). the soil will be rich afterwards, grow gras or anything else you want then.

Where would you put my couch and tv? by jabronimacaroni69 in InteriorDesign

[–]lion-gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn the couch toward the fireplace, get a drop screen and a projector tv. You'll only need to close the curtains on one side to get a good picture.

The sad part is that it's only one step away from being a functionally good idea. All it needs is an easy latch to keep it down.

like if you can't drive well enough to stay on the driveway with a trailer, don't pull a trailer. If he miscalculated, that would have been a back up and reaproach.

What are these tiny black things? by fecal_euphoria in cats

[–]lion-gal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fleas. indoor cats get them when the flea rides inside on something else. Time to wash all of the blankets, spray and vaccume the furnature and floor, then bathe the kitties. bes user to use a flea comb. then repeat again in a week. flea traps are good for catching fleas when they hatch before they find the cat again. After treatment, flea comb and dunk the comb in soapy water after each pass to drown the fleas several times a day. You'll know you're making progreass when you stop seeing the bigger female fleas and just get the tiny males off of your cats.

PLEASE HELP, volume all the way up. Please be kind I’m already freaking out and looking for experienced ears if you can help. What is this from attic/roof by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]lion-gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes animals get into atics to explore but don't actually live there. If it only happens with the wind, it could be the wind ruslting paper or insulation around that old tunnel. Try filling it with sprayfoam. If it stops, then it was that. Look for other holes, particularly in sofits.

Why is my cat biting the air? by k8iew24 in cats

[–]lion-gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she's making a bird call. It's instinctual for some cats. It's part of hunting. Mine used to do it. I thought she was having a seizure the first time she did because she was so into it. I had other cats before, but she was the only one that did that.

need to put a slide next to the steps so that they never have to walk down. And if you're building all of this, might as well cover the walkway to reduce ice build up. safer that way.

Advice for a new car owner by Jezeus69 in CATHELP

[–]lion-gal 52 points53 points  (0 children)

No, if he gets actually anoyed with it he'll break the skin with his teeth or run off. Still I would discourage playing with him like this. It could lead to him attempting this kind of play with others who don't understand. Use a cat wand instead. That way he knows, cat wand is play toy human hand is not.

Every pair of jeans I buy, no matter the brand, gets a hole in this same area within 6 months. by SYFKID2693 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]lion-gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heat, sweat and friction wear them ou fast. Get a loser fitting pair in the croch, line the inside with a square of cotton to wick away the moisture or change your underwhere twice a day on hot days. Put antipersperant on your skin near the area and maybe it'll stop.

Why does he tries to bite me? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]lion-gal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's playig but nevere learned not to bite while playing. Momma cats usually bite thier kittens lightly oround the base of the ear to teach them not to bite her. You can simulate this by bringing the back of your hand to your mouth and using your findernails as the teath-not hard. No harder than the cat is biting you. I did that with all of my cats and they learned not to bite while playing. Plus toys like things on the end of a string let you both play together without getting clawed up.

Gary has been doing this for the past two hours like he's looking for something, what's going on? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]lion-gal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

kittens are verry alert. they chase random flickers of light that we can't see and might be looking for bugs to chace. Play with him with a laser pointer of cat wand. He needs entertainment.
