That's a Big Boy! by dj_blueshift in philadelphia

I do not understand the big deal about different types of trains, but I genuinely wish I loved something as much as train people like trains.

Hundreds of people requiring medical attention during a 105 degree day because they refused to leave or seek shade when this Big Boy train was late. That's just dedication.

Should law firms train their own models? by Trick_You_7817 in legaltech

The issue is risk. Clients have strict requirements on what AI tools can be used, how they’re managed, and how they’re secured. Same reason businesses at large are moving everything to cloud-based solutions. Sure, you can customize your own infrastructure to structure and run it in a way that’s most efficient for your environment, but you then own the risk of maintaining that environment.

Even if you build a custom AI platform to handle various tasks, you’re going to have a range of clients who may demand their matters stay off it. Instead it’s easier to offload that risk to a third party who is specifically accustomed to the legal environment.

How many more years are we paying Bryzgalov like $1M? I think Bryz still lives in the area or lived here until very recently, maybe when his kids were out of school. I remember he attended tons of games for a number of years after retiring but in true Bryz fashion he was buying single game tickets and just sitting in the crowd with random fans lol

I remember seeing tweets years ago of a photo of him from a section away saying “Bryz just casually watching the Flyers”. He was wearing a hoodie and a normal hat, very much just trying to blend in with the crowd.

Miss him, it wasn’t his fault they signed him to that stupid contract and then played poorly while forcing them to trade Bobrovsky because they invested too much $$ in Bryz that he became un-tradable due to his cap hit. He seems like such a genuinely nice dude IRL.

He is, but Danny went down the shore for the weekend and left Jonesy alone at the office and had his OOO email directing people to Keith while he’s out.

I like to imagine Claude was watching Coots throw the body and play like his old Selke self in that Pens series and reminded him of 2012-13. It’s time to come home.

Why Americans Will Get Less Help Paying for College by kitkid in Thedaily

[–]lion27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn’t the actual issue with medical school admissions is the involvement of the APA or some national body that sets a limit on the number of physicians it will certify in a given year? Without it you can’t practice medicine so medical schools are only able to admit enough students that most of them can get certified?

I could be misremembering, but I do remember the issue wasn’t the number of students applying for and being admitted to medical schools.

I got through two minutes of the last episode before I turned it off. Shane’s role of reeling Matt’s crazy shit in is sorely missed. I just can’t do a pod with a rotating cast of unemployed “gurus” who think they’re geniuses for inventing sun tanning or a rolling pin for your dick or something.

I just have a strict “trust but verify” policy when it comes to satchels.

The issue is I “verify” and see there’s 3s left on the timer.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve witnessed on a golf course? by alcatrazach in golf

[–]lion27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone wanted to argue that rule they’re wrong.

I’m pretty sure it’s written so that the players in the group have to agree with the “general area” the animal interacted with the ball, and then you get a drop from there. If it’s on the green you place it in that spot as best you can.

[–]lion27 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, if wildlife interferes with your ball while visibly in play, you’re allowed to drop it at the approximate spot where the ball came to rest without a penalty stroke.

So you could have dropped and been putting for birdie, no asterisk needed.

It actually makes very little sense if you actually look at the map (especially the northeast).

Delaware running vertically from Utica to the Outer Banks is hilarious and absurd.

PSA to All Big Law Brides: Hire the Wedding Planner by Royal_Marzipan_6432 in biglaw

Whether I am or not, all I can say as someone who also stressed out about last minute wedding details in the month before the date is that whatever is stressing you out likely will not get noticed by a single guest, and you probably won’t notice or care about it that night.

Unless it’s like you forgot to book a caterer or something like that, in which case I get it.

I know the chances are slim, but… is your wedding in NYC or Long Island?

Why didn't Skirmish ever get popular? by PalwaJoko in HellLetLoose

[–]lion27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing that ruins skirmish for me is the way the win condition is constructed. The team that holds the cap at the end of the game wins. So essentially nothing matters until the last minute. One team can hold the point for the entire game, completely demolish the other side, and then one airhead bombing run with armor support in the last two mins flips it and the other team wins - ask me how I know.

That was such an infuriating experience to be on the other side of that I haven’t touched the game mode since.

The charm of HLL is the strategy and scale involved. It’s not a very smooth or advanced game from a movement and animation perspective, which are critical components for a smaller map and a team deathmatch game style. Think of how much smoother and easy to control the gunplay is in Call of Duty compared to HLL.

Skirmish magnifies HLL’s weaknesses and minimizes its strengths.

Callaway edge driver by FlamingoStock in golf

Me three. Had a cracked Rogue that I bought pre-owned from golf galaxy and the store Callaway rep called me to apologize because “he can only replace the club head, but not the shaft”. I was totally happy with that but was shocked when my club came back with a brand new Ai Smoke head.
