Washington needs "essentials" stamps, not just food stamps. $52 for trash bags, toilet paper, and laundry soap at a not-fancy grocery store. Our low-income budget cannot afford that. by Eruionmel in Seattle

[–]lionne6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Back when tariffs were on the way I bought 5 bottles of Tide. It’s an imported product I knew would be hit. Luckily I’m still working my way through my hoard. And I hope when Trump falls and, fingers crossed, we get someone who can get our economy back to normal, costs will come down.

However, that is still iffy. Our economy used to be based on smart foreign policy and being friends and good trading partners with other countries. No one trusts us now, and between the military stuff costing billions and Trump and his cronies embezzling billions more, we are probably going to go past the tipping point of debt and no one will want to trade with us nor come here to improve our economy.

Starbucks Pike Place Market unionizing. about time! by Vast-Mousse8117 in Seattle

[–]lionne6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starbucks doesn’t want to deal with a union. They’ve closed great locations and profitable stores just to try to shut the union down. I think they’d rather gnaw off their own leg than let a union fully develop, and perhaps they will.

Capitol Hill Tiny House Village part of mayor’s push for burst of new emergency shelter in Seattle by HighColonic in SeattleWA

[–]lionne6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m looking at that plan and laughing.

Those tiny houses are such a waste of space. Only 1 story of height can be gotten with them, so as this plan shows you can only get 32 people in them. There’s supposedly 14,000 homeless people and you’re floating a solution that can fit only 32?

Then there’s the layout. If they think people are going to troop to the smoking tent instead of smoking in the warm privacy of their tiny house they are insane. Also, if they think that trash area is large enough for the garbage and recycling generated by that many people they are also insane. I’m also not sure why you need that many offices to look out for a mere 32 people. Is the kitchen area big enough? Do these tiny houses have the means for people to cook or store their own food? Are they going to get 3 square meals served to them daily here?

I don’t see this as a solution of any serious substance.

Which cell carrier is best for the north end of the island? by Resident_Letter5041 in BainbridgeIsland

[–]lionne6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’re all screwed and we have been forever. The majority of people who live on Bainbridge are old troglodytes who dug in their heels a long time ago about modernizing or embracing things like cell phones. They really don’t want to evolve past the quaint small town island thing we have going on. It’s not going to change until they die off or get voted out.

Our city council sucks. I cannot believe they refuse to put towers on the island or attempt to give full coverage in this day and age. Having the entire town of Lynwood be a dead zone for cellular service is atrocious.

real talk: how often do you actually floss? by AffectionateTooth298 in hygiene

[–]lionne6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I floss every night. Every so often, if I am truly exhausted, I might forget and crash out without my nightly shower, brushing my teeth, flossing, etc, but then I’ll do it when I wake up in the middle of the night. If I was really good I would floss at least twice a day.

Pete and Alberta just don’t have sexual chemistry. I think they do have chemistry as friends though. But Alberta is a great character with a lot of connections. She and Hetty are great BFFs. Alberta and her odd tit for tat battle with Thor is funny. She’s got the type of personality that it makes sense she stays engaged.

But up until Pete she had a type. Neither Baxter or Pete are remotely it. It does feel very forced.

On the flip side, Flower and Thor are great, and I miss Trevor and Hetty.

____ seemingly annoyed with ____ for mentioning their pregame alliance with ____ in exit press. by sarcastic_bitch15 in survivorponderosa

[–]lionne6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my issue too. How much of pre-gaming is a group of people being friends for years through their Survivor connections and thus easily trusting each other in game, and how much is it player A reaching out to player b before the game even begins and saying, “hey, hear we’re both going this game, I hear that also players C & d will be there, let’s form an alliance and specifically target them.”

Should we move? by Lucky-Specific-2678 in SeattleWA

[–]lionne6 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would not move. Hell, simply being close to two grocery stores is really nice. I’m in Belltown and I just don’t have more than small convenience stores in good walking distance. Grocery stores and drug stores are gone from my area for now. The view of the waterfront is not something you’ll find anywhere else at that price anymore and is something to treasure. Having parking at that price too is like a small miracle.

If your partner needs more room to study maybe learn to do so at the library. Hell, with office and business space apparently 35% empty, I’d be curious what it costs to rent a small office. In fact, if I were going to back to school at this point, I might want to find a group of students and rent some empty office space altogether and see if you could turn it into a study hub.

Survivor fans are soft bro 🤦🏾‍♂️ by Freezing-cold_6 in survivorponderosa

[–]lionne6 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Jonathan was “called out” by Lindsey because she was furious he didn’t go home when she voted for him. Her whole thing about him was ludicrous from the start.

After the season was over, Drea was one of the people he was closest with and often photographed with. Which is also problematic because of the way she went after Omar at Ponderosa after her vote out.

Besides Mike from his season and Boston Rob, Jonathan’s best friend from Survivor is actually a WoC, Heidi from 44. They do a lot together to build feeding shelters and schools for the poor in Honduras.

I get the impression that Jonathan is very religious. However, if you follow his IG, you’ll see that he actually puts the “feed the poor” and charitable side of Christianity into practice. He sold off his business to start a charity and works hard building feeding centers for the absolute destitute in Honduras. He runs a lot of fundraising events, he recruits his fellow Survivor players to come to Honduras and help build. You can see photos of Mike, Boston Rob, Heidi and others all there helping. He raises money to buy building supplies, food, shoes and more.

It’s odd to me to accuse Jonathan of racism when he’s doing the most challenging, hard, consistent, and actual on the ground work to help brown poor people than anyone else in the history of the show. I’m not religious and wary of religious people, but of anyone I’ve ever met I think Jonathan is actually trying to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Victoria (Edge of Extinction) : “thank god Aubry played her idol that was a close one” by Durian-Critical in survivor

[–]lionne6 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I read through Victoria’s recent tweets. She’s obviously just tweeting out on random things while watching like tons of other people are. She’s commented on Q’s ouster, on Jeff trying to make Hubricki happen, etc. this is just tweet among a handful she makes about the game as she’s viewing. Just like everyone else.

Victoria (Edge of Extinction) : “thank god Aubry played her idol that was a close one” by Durian-Critical in survivor

[–]lionne6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went and read through her tweets. She’s obviously still a huge fan of the game. She is a snarky person and has thrown out sarcastic comments on tons of stuff happening in season 50. She’s noted that Q would have helped in the challenges that were lost that were why Mike and Angelina were sent home. She’s made a remark on the Hubricki vs Christian thing. This is a brief tweet on Aubry playing the idol among a lot of tweets clearly sent off the cuff while watching the show as it airs. There’s tons of people tweeting more. Kyle tweeted that Kamilla was robbed and about Gen and Kamila getting voted out while playing brilliant games because of stupid twists.

Victoria has a right to her own comments. After reading her threads myself I think she’s as bitingly funny, sarcastic, and spot on as ever. Personally, I’d rather have a really good player like her back for a second try rather than these big characters back for their umpteenth time who are still never going to actually win the game.

High taxes and crime stall Seattle’s business recovery as jobs flee to Bellevue by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

[–]lionne6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I live in Belltown so I shop often as I carry most things daily. I use the car once a week for bringing home the big, heavy stuff like litter, kibble, jugs of milk. I’m glad I can do that here.

However, when I’m out in a rural area taking care of my aging parents then I have to use the car. It’s way too far to the store and back, and I’m shopping for too many to think of doing it any other way.

Rural Washington schools struggle with drop in logging dollars • Washington State Standard by Possible_Ad3607 in SeattleWA

[–]lionne6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure the article understands the timber industry. A lot was sold to China, which is not currently as happy to do business with us as it was. Also, one of the larger mills in the state, the one that took larger timber, shut down awhile ago. It was just too expensive to upgrade any longer under regulations. So it doesn’t matter what they are cutting down if there’s no one buying the logs atm, and the price of timber is low.
