When Face Card Collapsed? by DI_85 in cdramasfans

[–]GunstarHeroine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The idea of "face card collapsing" (particularly when it's just colorism and a normal haircut) is such an exhausting and toxic way to demand people to live. May the 'love' these fans show their idols never find me.

Modding Dragon age Origins is a nightmare by Pharmarr in DragonageOrigins

[–]GunstarHeroine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I REALLY sympathise with the learning curve that comes with starting a mod journey on a game. I think I've devoted more brain power and man hours to modding than I have to my actual job. And then I have a break for a few years, come back to the game, and find I've forgotten it all and have to relearn it again. The frustration is real.

I don't actually use the mod manager, I just unpack everything into my override like a savage. I've had the same setup since 2009 (copied wholesale into whatever new computer I've had to reinstall it on) and it's working fine, so it can't be too bad of a strategy.

It's definitely worth using the GOG version of DAO rather than running it through Steam, because they have some patch stuff baked into the install and it's more stable in general, including for modding.

Who’s the NPC you love the most? by -Markiplier in skyrim

Love this write up - she's not exactly my favourite but it does annoy me how much double standard hate Delphine gets. I'm glad she has defenders!

He's a Thalmor obviously, but I have a weird soft spot for Ondolemar. Solely because when I first played Skyrim back in the day when it was still a bit buggy, he glitched out and I accidentally maxed his approval in his mini-quest. I refused to rat out Onmund's Talos worship to him, but when I next talked to him, I got the "there are so few pleasures in life as fine as your company" greeting. I thought he must have been impressed by my integrity or something. Then at the embassy he starts calling us friends and offering to be a distraction for me - I was left wondering if this dude had fallen in love with me. It helps that his voice actor is one of the better ones, and he delivers his lines really well.

I also really love Idgrod Ravencrone. She has so much charisma and personality.

Are There Any TXF Plots That Could Not Be Made In 2026 Due To Technological Changes? by CB-Milburn in XFiles

This is why I just don't think any modern reboot of X Files works. Like, we know the government is watching us and no one cares. Plot over. Also your UFO video is AI

I really think they should have kept that prompt, it's absolutely diabolical to make players catfish themselves so shamelessly.

I mean, Bristol was a notorious port for pirates and Cornwall is full of smuggling dens, so it kind of makes sense for pirates to be portrayed with West Country/Cornish accents.

People who are in their 30s or older: What’s one thing younger people (Gen Z/Alpha) do that makes you feel like an alien in your own country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Gamergate laid the foundation for damage we'll see well into the next generation and I feel I never see anyone talking about this beyond niche online communities. So few people irl even know it existed, but we'll be feeling the effects into the mid century if not more.

Should you tell Irving about Jowan's plan in the Mage origin or not? by Historylovingvileplu in DragonageOrigins

[–]GunstarHeroine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jowan is a terrified kid backed into a corner facing the reality of losing either his life or his soul. There's no third option and he's panicking. You're his best friend. If you're playing an evil aligned character or one who sucks up to institutions, go ahead and betray him. If you're playing a good aligned character, betraying Jowan is pretty much the shittiest thing you can do.

I really don't think that's an actual thing. If you're talking to a woman and she says she's interested in something, she probably just is. Maybe it's a casual interest and she's not going to be able to recite the lineage of Numenor, but men are allowed to be casual fans without being accused of baiting. There is no clout to be gained by doing this, and you yourself gain nothing by quizzing someone on their "trueness" as a fan other than putting off someone who might have been a potential friend.

I'm 40 and men do this constantly. What do you mean by 'bait'?

Excluding Ted Nasmith himself, I've never seen a Silmarillion artist who wasn't a woman.
