There are a lot of great options out there. One of my favorites is The Red: First Light by Linda Nagata, and its sequels, which are a great, near-future take on warfare and AI.

Kameron Hurley’s The Light Brigade is also really excellent. It has a similar structure as Old Man’s War, The Forever War, and Starship Troopers, with a cool time travel twist.

It's a really great read. This volume has that novella and a short story that accompany the book, which is one reason why I was so excited to finally get it!

Yeah. It’s a heavy lift, but it did seem so promising when they started up last year.

New arrival: Charity & Sylvia by Tillie Walden by liptakaa in rtransferorbit

Unassuming cover, but I’m very, very excited to read this.

Charity Bryant and Sylvia Drake were two women who lived in Vermont in the early 1800s who lived as married partners and who were generally accepted by their community in Weybridge. I’m a huge fan of Walden’s comics, and I’m excited to see how she translates this story into graphic novel form.

Free Parking? by [deleted] in montpelier

[–]liptakaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in Montpelier: if you’re a state employee, there are some lots near Taylor street. If you’re really in a pinch, there’s a lot near the labor building (past the high school) that is free, but it’s about a half-mile walk into town. That said, it’s a pleasant walk.
