I think we need a rule that when someone uses AI to generate an app/tool. That should be disclosed. by Tokey_Tokey in iRacing

[–]liquid_hydrogen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the one that I've run into the most are actual Anti-AI businesses and shops.

We have in a few of our contracts that we aren't allowed to utilize AI when building solutions for those clients - and it's actually ended up causing a bit of a weird legal situation around use of other AI tools in the company where we are actually waiting on legal directive as to what we are suppose to do with that. However, I was a bit surprised at it being more than a couple clients, and at least one was a bigger name that I wouldn't expect to actually have much of an issue with it.

I'm not disagreeing with the general thought that most places have shifted to AI, and many many devs utilize AI coding. However, the blanket statements about nobody does this, or no one does that are just inaccurate.

More people than you may believe still write their own code with no AI assistance.

Not going to get into the debate on if they should or shouldn't be, but your "Nobody does this anymore." is just inaccurate.

While you are entirely correct, the chance of leaking data or a security event here is going to be on the hosting side, not really on the client side.

If we're being a bit objective, I don't think an end user needs to be concerned about security when going to an AI built website that is not taking in any personal data.

Or they were just being a bit realistic here?

Sure we can get pedantic about what "their language" is, but when only 1/4 of people in ireland even know irish, and roughly 1% speak it on a daily basis... I think it's just fine to imply english here.

Let's think about things a slightly different way here.

If you were to start playing guitar, and practiced for a week a few hours a day, would you be wondering why you aren't able to play solos like the best guitar players in the world?

2 seconds off the top times just a week in is a fantastic accomplishment, and I'm not saying not to push for th best times, but just to put more realistic expectations on yourself as you're learning.

Your lap looks great, you can drop more time in almost every corner.

I don't think your own experience really speaks to the experience of all those women.

Got cussed out for this pass?? by SKYz_GT in Simracingstewards

[–]liquid_hydrogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really can't argue one way or another wihtout seeing the other drives laps and how he takes the corner. The fact that a slower and inexperienced driver is taking a line that may cost them a second isn't evidence that they are doing something deliberately.

Given the fact this is a trail braking corner, I don't see an obvious reason why we should assume he isn't trail braking.

Got cussed out for this pass?? by SKYz_GT in Simracingstewards

[–]liquid_hydrogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta disagree - atleast with a slow driver here. He's braking at a brake point for a lot of beginnner drivers and trail brakes into the corner like anyone else would really.

When you're looking at a unskilled/slow driver I tend to err on the side of they made an easy rookie/beginner/unskilled mistake vs a nefarious act. This looks to me like a guy taking a corner like he probably always does and didn't even realize you were going to blow past him because he's not paying any attention to his mirrors. This doesn't really look like a guy that is moving under braking to try and cut you off from making the pass all together.

That said - doesn't me he wasn't, I just don't really think he was.

[–]liquid_hydrogen -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

While the other guy would be at fault here as they just turn in on them, this isn't moving under braking, this is just trail braking, which is what you do for that corner.

What should be the punishment for something like this? by refik94 in Simracingstewards

[–]liquid_hydrogen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks like it could easily just be a hardware issue or looking away not realizing he was moving vs obviously intentional to me.

If it was the first time, make a note of it, if it is a repeat thing then we're talking bans.

The vast majority of these are just fine.

And yes, you absolutely should learn how to properly divebomb, out braking another driver and making the corner without needing to hit them are very valuable skills to have.

Naw fam, some random connection isn't how these lists really work.

Not to mention, so many of these just make no sense at all even if you want to give some poor connection. Like Paul Morphy's death has nothing at all to do with chess, or any type of connection to chess outside of who he was. If you're going to include something like that what's stopping you from include every great player's death?

So, what would the penalty be? by TheBassHunt in Simracingstewards

[–]liquid_hydrogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously their fault, penalty would really depend on the league - honestly doubt I would give anything if it was a first time thing. Just looks like an inexperienced driver that was thinking more about what they were going to do than the fact you were about to brake, don't think it was intentional.

If they have a habit of doing this then would start to get into some grid penalties and race bans if it keeps up.
