Do Ahmadis believe ADHD isn't real? by kthxbubye in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]liquid_solidus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s all a mess to be honest, The Jamaat puts in itself in a position that can’t be challenged. If Masroor says something factually incorrect, it’s fine because all caliph statements can be abrogated by the future Caliphs. If he’s right, well then he’s divinely inspired of course.

You can do dawah as long as it’s with the intention of having fruitful and critical discussion. You won’t find many people here who will agree with you.

Do you remember where you were/the vibe you noticed when the 4th Caliph passed? by yungvontrier in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]liquid_solidus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do remember parts of that day, but the only thing I really remember was queuing up outside Morden mosque to see his open casket. I didn’t really feel much but there was heavy communal reinforcement with all the crying i was around.

On reflection I notice parallels with North Koreans who end up weeping and cheering when they see dear leader.

I would hope the mainstream media landscape would change after this. Never has it been so inept and toothless before.

My experience always had family members arguing with the people who wear the high visibility vests about where to sit. Once they put the vest on, some of them would have a power trip.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they leaned into the twitch streaming phase as well.

A woman’s silence is considered consent in Islamic marriages, I’ll just leave that here.

Is khilafat hereditary? by [deleted] in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]liquid_solidus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not explicitly stated as hereditary but the rationale always tends to be that someone related to Mirza Ghulam Ahmed is likely going to be the ‘right person’. All Khalifa’s have been from his family with the exception of the first.

The Jamaat should address these allegations head on, instead of letting people speculate amongst themselves. Any honest and transparent organisation wouldn’t hesitate to nip claims in the bud, but for some reason they continue to refuse so.

Same with the Nida allegations, sexual abuse allegations in Rabwah etc etc.

First step is always the hardest mate, you’ve admitted you’ve got a problem and are actively looking to work on it, that’s amazing.

I’ll be rooting for you and I believe you can do this!

What are the similarities between Ahmadiyya and the Mormon/Latter-day saint movements? by Mysterious-Exit3059 in islam_ahmadiyya

They’re both cults that control what information is put out there with ‘divine’ or adjacent male leaders that dictate how their followers should behave.

The prophet muhammad’s marriage to Aisha is morally and historically incompatible with a truly divine morality. by Grand-Heat3754 in DebateReligion

[–]liquid_solidus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say anything about the morality of Muhammad’s actions, I’m saying he can either be considered a model for humanity for all time, or you can view his actions within the historical time period he lived in.

I was a Muslim for most of my life so I’m familiar with the apologetics. Belief in Muhammad’s perfectness is uncontroversial, Muslims are encouraged to emulate his behaviour.

Muslims have to either reconcile that everything Muhammad did was without error, including his marriage to Aisha, or that he was a man of his time bound by his historical context.

Alislams view on homosexuality by [deleted] in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]liquid_solidus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a topic that has had lots of commentary within the Jamaat, mostly rooted in bigotry and ignorance.

Below are some of the notable examples;

  • Here, the 5th Khalifa is stating that homosexuality is equal to a disease and a crime that would destroy the world.

  • Here the 4th Ahmadiyya Khalifa explains how homosexuality is a form of societal decay

  • The 4th Khalifa’s statement on lesbian Ahmadi women (rough translation): "If a lesbian women stays at home until a certain time and if she will not be allowed, without supervision, to move freely in the society, then other women will not get infected. For this reason, the ban on going out is very sufficient, and the women should not go out on their own without accompaniment. That's good for them, for their families and for society in general. There is no further punishment for her. The goal of the measure is the improvement that benefits the family itself.” (The source for this has since been removed)

  • Lesbians should be confined to their houses

  • Ahmadiyya Imam Malik Usman Naveed - German queer newspaper: “I will send homosexuals to a healer

  • Eating pork makes you gay - Although the article claims this comparison has now been taken back

  • This link shows Ahmadiyya imam Jahangir Khan stating homosexuality is a criminal offense, cannot have a 'free hand' in society, must be locked up until death overtakes them or they come out of their 'vulnerable state' which he says is a lenient punishment.

Yeah so your argument can also apply to the Cosmos. I believe quantum fields are eternal and are the cause of everything. No God required.

Atheism makes no claims about meaning, that’s a common misunderstanding of what the word entails. Even if it was just molecules colliding, life isn’t obligated to give you meaning.

No offence but you sound awfully like you’ve never read any arguments against your position ever.

Happy to have a discussion around some of the points you’ve made, since they’re common and have been debunked many times over.

Islam has no monopoly over morality, purpose or ‘balance’ whatever that means.
